Daisy Powerline 990 - Awesome

A friend gave me his inoperable Daisy Powerline 990 dual-power carbine. A new seal and valve kit from JG Airguns, Mundelein, IL, turned this into one of my favorites. The option of pump or CO2 power makes this rifle unique, and I wish more were like that. Moving the switch to CO2 locks the pump arm, but you cannot switch to pump while there is still a CO2 cartridge inside the magazine. An unfortunate accident and lawsuit forced Daisy to discontinue this model. Another feature I like, and I don't know if it is just this rifle, but the pumps are easy and do not become harder as you increase pressure, yet the power DOES increase. With its rifled barrel and an electronic DOT sight it is surprisingly accurate at my normal shooting distance of 20-30'. There is a 110 BB reservoir but I only shoot pellets which are fed one at a time.

Order a spare seal kit, while you still can. Trust me on this.

Is JG Airguns running low on them or do the kits contain a seal that's no longer made?

Thanks for looking Scott & Mark. Good advice, Scott, but the seal and valve kit was $40 incl s&h. I think I would just retire the 990 and opt for some type of newer gun, but since I already have 38 guns and counting, new guns come at the risk of divorce. ;-)
Not sure if the seals are anything special, Mark. The valve, I believe is the same as the 880?? Someone correct me if I am wrong.

It's a completely different valve than the 880, it's the same valve and pump setup as an 860 and the old Eagle (don't remember it's number off the top of my head). It's similar to how Crosman valves work with a hammer instead of the dump valve on the 880.
I have a 990 that I got around '94 when I was I guess 12 if it was '94 and it always was accurate, CO2 was expensive back then so I mostly just used it as a pump... I'll have to look at what I paid for the rebuild kit about 5 years ago but I thought it was closer to $20... I remember it being expensive, and I might get a spare set for good measure

What's in that reseal kit? I had one that leaked a few years back.....long gone now.....as I remember it was mostly orings and a piercing cup. I know I didn't order anything to do the reseal.

Stuart, The seal kit included several different o-rings, assorted rubber cups and bushings, and what they call the spool valve assembly. The SVA was what I needed, although I did replace any o-ring I could get at. Shoots great. Thanks for dropping by.
Oh, and Scott, the paperwork on the 990 also said some parts are interchangeable with the 860 and 856, just like you said. Thanks.

Ah yes, 856! Yeah, everything but the 2 or 3 small O rings for the CO2 valve stem thing that switches between CO2 and pump and blocks the pump arm closed should be the same, I had my 856 and 860 apart at the same time and they are basically the same and from what I remembered the same as the 990...

What is the part # number did you use for the rebuild kit? I need a pump piston o-ring.
