I ran out of my ""usual" silicone and grabbed the stuff that I stocked up on BC (covid).
Squirted a little in the foster fill port and proceeded to pump. Then looked at the bottle (apparently hadn't before). It says EXTREMELY FLAMABLE!
I thought it was run of the mill silicone. I only pumped to 300 PSI thankfully. I did press the hammer handle down with the bolt open.
Now, what cleaning do I do? Maybe I won't feel so bad using rubbing alcohol now.

My usual silicone on the left also says flamable. What silicone is cheap and safe? Also what silicone grease is cheap and safe.
BTW it pumped up like a dream...pitty.

You can pick up dialectic grease at Home Depot in the electrical department. Cheap & doesn't ignite. But any 100% silicone grease will work.

You can get divers silicon in a tube in the plumbing department. If you want liquid get 100% silicon shock oil for RC cars.

I would open up the pressure tube, make sure it is degassed, and wipe out any flammable residue let it air out overnight and reassemble, use the RC 10wt or so pure silicone shock oil.

Ok the fill end is out. I doused with rubbing alcohol and cleaned. Airing it out now. I haven't taken out the valve.
I didn't know there were so many silicone oil applications. I wonder if 100% silicone for painting and for treadmill and for sewing are all the same?

Ok. So this is the first of the "wt" I have heard. No wonder the oil would splatter all over the floor from my pump! Is 35 wt also good for something like a grease? I did get some thick stuff with one pump that I thought was in error.
Wish I could get 10wt in a quart or at least 4 oz!

I originally went with 80 wt. for use on hand pumps and orings, but a 40 would be a good do all wt.

Got al the previous smelly flamable stuff out. I flushed a bunch of alcohol down, past the poppet, through the TP and out the barrel. Then opened everything up and let it dry overnight. Pumped it up by hand and shot a couple with no backfires or front fires.
I have a compressor and tank that I haven't used yet because I want to wrap my head around the process before I actually start using it. Flamable lubricants are one of those things I tried to keep away from but now they are going to be even more dangerous. I know, fill slow.

Just in case you wouldn't use the same lube for your o-rings, here is what I use with my air guns:

I like that thickness as it stays on the o-rings. I have used it in a pinch (read "I couldn't find where I left the darn silicon oil tube") to lube the valve at the reservoir tank fitting. It worked like a charm for that too.

I have some of that DuPont lube. I think it has a more volatile carrier for the actual silicone, to make it thinner, and evaporate after application. That said, I would never use it in my air guns, well maybe a C02 type. You can go on amazon, ebay and find bottles of silicone oils of different weights, viscosities, from very thin to almost thick syrup types. all of which are non flammable.
