I assume the barrel is in tension, so the shroud will be in compression?.... If you use the same material for the shroud as the barrel, then thermal expansion will not change the barrel tension with temperature.... Any other combination of materials I would suggest you use a short stack of Bellevilles at the muzzle to reduce the change in tension with temperature.... Generally speaking, an aluminum that has a higher tensile strength would also have a higher compression strength, so 2024-T3 would be better than 6061-T6, but it has been a while since I looked at the Thermal Coefficients of the two.... Here is a thread you may find has the answers you are seeking....https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,81226.0.htmlBob
Which target did you shoot at on the second group, the lower right?.... Is so, after settling? it looks like the POI moved up (but the 4-shot group is at least as good)?.... A quick look at my info in the previous thread would indicate the tension increased?....Bob
It looks like your using a moderator even with your vented shroud. I would stay with the moderator, and fill the shroud with expanding foam to insulate the barrel from changes in temp. And the foam would increase overall stiffness.
