DIFTA match results for July 27, 2013
(1/1)
nced:
We had a fun time at the DIFTA match yesterday. The weather was uncharacteristically cool for a Maryland July, and we were even treated to a decent breeze now and then. Even though Paolo couldn't be with us for the match, he set up a very nice 72-shot course for us. This included a forced offhand lane, and a "fast" lane where shooters had three minutes instead of the usual seven to make six shots. Not for the first time, Paolo set out, ranged, and leveled all 36 targets, even though he wasn't shooting the match! Thanks, Paolo!!! You spoil us!
The match marked the quiet but auspicious return of a dear old friend of DIFTA: after what? two years in the repair shop, Long Tom himself reappeared on the course! Great to have you back, Tom! I'm sure we'll be seeing less and less of Tom at future matches, by which I mean I bet the ranges to Tom will steadily increase as the matches tick by *grin*.
Competition was tight all day, across the classes. Eric and Dean were neck and neck all day until Eric's breech seal gave out halfway through the last lane! Al and Tinh shot a complete nail-biter, despite Tinh's constant assurances that Al was blowing him out of the water, making him look bad, etc. BTW, Tinh's hand-made bullpup stock for his Pro Target is a sight to behold, and a wonder of ingenuity, even by Tinh's standards! And Keith blew us all away, tying the match high score shooting WFTF-Piston style! It was a real pleasure shooting with first-time FT shooter Marty Boegner. Shooting offhand, Marty'***** rate was high for targets where he had his rifle zeroed. He's gonna be wicked after a few minutes with Chairgun!

Sorry, no pics this time. I usually take my little Nikon digital camera but not this time. I'll make it a point to take a few pics at the next regular match on Aug 24th. There will be a free "fun match" on Aug 10th, but I don't usually take the 800 mile round trip from NC to MD for them. To go to a DIFTA match I travel to the WV property and do some maintenance work, then from WV to DIFTA in the morning, then from DIFTA in MD back to NC on Saturday afternoon.
