Looks like it is time to tear into it. Anyone heard of this before on the Shin Sung rifles?

I will. It will be a couple of weeks before I get the chance to tear it down and find the issue. While I have it down I will do some upgrades as well.

The same problem with the Samyang Dragon Claw .50, the safety does not engage.

I haven't tore into it yet. I'll get to it eventually.

Did Remington have anything to do with this gun?

Which one? Two different company's making two different rifles. AFAIK neither are related to or had input from Remington.
As a side note my safety is functioning again. That doesn't mean it's fixed though as I haven't done anything to it yet.

I guess you haven't seen all the hoopla over Remington knowing they had unsafe rifles that would fire with the safety on. Many people got hurt, disfigured, and killed. Remington never changed their design or fixed the part that was unsafe. Many lawsuits are still pending. It involved adding a new $.05 part. Interesting read, google it for giggles.

No I never saw that. I have no real interest in anything of Remingtons. Of course if you fallow rule #1 of gun handling it relegates the safety to storage/transport duty.

Anyhow that's why they have courts. My DS safety is fine.
