Title: Introduciton
Post by: dcherne on January 14, 2022, 08:41:02 PM
I am new to air guns and I'm looking to make my first purchase of an air rifle.  First just trying to decide between PCP and Break action.  Probably PCP.  I am trying to search the forums for information about the rifles I'm considering and I keep getting an error message in every forum that says "You are not allowed to search for posts in this forum."  How can a actually search the forums for information?

Hey guys, I've created a couple of posts asking questions and so that people could better understand what I'm asking it would be useful to include links to the items in question.  But the system won't let me.  What do I need to do in order to be allowed to include links?

Also, after I've created a new topic is there any way I can get an email or somehow be notified when someone responds?  I don't get any notifications so I have to keep checking the forum to see if anyone has responded.

I haven't seen any responses except "Howdy".  Am I asking these questions in the wrong forum?

Your post count has to reach a minimum level, seems like 20 or so. The welcome thread is not used for answering questions you will need to start a new thread in the correct thread. I just looked and I have 3 howdys, dont know how that happened but I  will be more careful moving forward.

mr007s, thank you for responding.  I'll look for the proper forum and start a new thread.

BTW to follow up on my introduction, I did decide to get into this sport with a new PCP.  A Benjamin Marauder Field and Target regulated with Lothar-Walther barrel.

I've been having a lot of fun with it and I've done a Silhouette match and a Field Target match and they were both a blast.  There is an amazing amount of things to learn about this sport and the knowledge provided by the forums is amazingly deep and profoundly useful.  The downside of that is I've spent countless hours over the past few weeks digging into and researching all of this because I find it fascinating (but I should probably be spending that time shooting instead, lol)!

I thought I would just buy an air rifle, enjoy some shooting and that would be it.  Now I find myself deep in building indoor and outdoor traps, quieting the gun with moderators and baffles.  Chronograph (with lighting), PCP refilling equipment, bench rest, shooting table, couple of different bipods/tripods, stool, gun cases, pellet samples, scope, levels, different scope mounts, big focus wheels, single shot tray, etc. are here or on their way.  Wow, there is so much to this!

One of things I've learned is, one mistake I made so far is buying the rifle in .22 when I should have bought .177 instead.  I really enjoy the accuracy of these guns (and playing at comps) and don't care as much about hunting. I know that problem is easy to rectify but I'll stick with it for now while I continue digging into this wonderful hobby!
