Hey gang

I am going to post my November submission, but “regrettably” I don’t think I will be participating in 2022.  I loved the two years I spent with NUAH, but the participation has been diminishing exponentially for the last two years.  Honestly, it’s not much fun if you get only a few submitters.

I thank Bob and Kevin for all their support, but there is just not enough interest —- sadly.

All the best to all of my colleagues who have and will continue to participate. I will certainly change my mind if the trend reverses and we have a good response.

Sorry to hear that, Tommy.... Seeing the targets you submit gives the rest of us something to "shoot for"....  ;)

Same here Tom. Sorry I've slacked off with my shooting. Maybe next year will be a better year!

I won't be much competition to you folks and your awesome shooting, but have printed up a stack of targets, and intend to join in if I can get at least close.   :D
So don't go away just yet... ;)

I look forward to your groups Jesse. You've got serious skills to do this with a springer!

Possibly part of the problem is that unless you shoot in the "Master" division, you don't stand a chance in the Matches.... Whenever I have had time to shoot and entered, I was never the top score, and I have never shot 50/50, I think my best was a 48/50, and I have entered with lots of 46's and 47's.... I am currently rated as an "Expert", as I have never shot a sub 1 MOA group....

I know it would be fractionally more work, but is there any point in breaking the results down by NUAH Division, instead of caliber?.... After all, we already score "down" to help out the smaller calibers....  8)

Actually Bob, I think this is a good idea.  It might be considered to be more fair and there would be winners in multiple divisions.  Also, each division might be more evenly matched, and perhaps make it more interesting ( I.e., fun).

Honestly, I think some of the newer technologies, especially as it relates to air rifles; can offer an advantage and enhance  your ability to shoot more accurately at 100 yards.  Not an endorsement by any stretch, just my personal experience shooting BR with both the RAW and Safari the last couple of years.  As an example only, I’m 100% certain that I cannot shoot my FX Royale .22, HW100 .22 or Taipan .25 as accurately at 100 yards.  Ask me how I know 😀

I’m only one opinion for your idea and maybe another poll may solicit some other opinions.

I agree with you Tom. I never shot a moa group, or much less a 50/50 until I got my hands on my "Boss". I have since done it with my FX500 and Cricket Custom, but not as regular as the Boss will do it. I have yet to do it with any of my .22 cal guns.

That does sound like a good idea Bob; it would fit right in with the spirit of improving one's shooting-as to pull off a qualifying group for any one division is easier done once than multiple times with consistency-but competing in the Matches within one's class would then hone the skill further; until an upgrade could be made to the next division.

Bob,
I do think this might bring in some more people. People see “matches” as something to compete in and if they don’t have the equipment, skill isn’t going to make up the difference. I’ve really settled in at just under  2 moa with my Marauder and short of changing it to something else, or luck at a hundred yards, 1 moa isn’t something that it demonstrates target after target.

I thought I would get out today, but far too windy and tomorrow is bad too.

I did go out earlier in the month and posted a few good cards. Card # 5 is my submission for the final match of the year.  I really was trying hard the last two months for a 4X card, and it just wouldn't come for me.

Hoping some others will get a shot tomorrow or today to get their cards submitted.

Shooting Date: 11/10/21
Shooter: Tom Boylan
Distance: Outdoor range; 100 yards lazer'd
Gun: RAW HM1000X .22 HP

Ammo: JSB 25g RDs
Wind: 0-1 mph
Group:50/50; 2X; 15/16" via ruler

That's an awesome group to end the year with Tom. Looks good from the warmth of my computer chair. Too cold and windy for this fat boy to get out there.
Had a friend down from Greensboro yesterday and we eliminated a bunch of grapes. My favorite reactive target. The sound it makes when the pellet makes contact is impressive.
Big difference in yesterday's weather and today's but was still a little too windy for much accuracy on paper. I did let him bust some cans and pressurized bottles at the 100 mark though.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Great shooting 2toes!!!!
Love seeing those targets and hearing the stories. I have been on this ship since late Sept and am ready to get home to show off some targets of my own. Only a month or so to go.

Thank you to all!!

Please try and continue the NUAH monthly events next year.  I will definitely come back if we can get 10 monthly participants in the NUAH events.

Tom

P.s. I love this monthly event!

Well, here are my two entries.  Couldn't get an X to save my life. I sure hope we will be able to keep this going next year.  I think Bob's idea about the divisions may bring a few more shooters in.  I shoot in this match because it's fun and we get to exchange a few ideas on shooting and equipment.  It's nice to place near the top but I try to submit a target even if it's not that great.  I was lucky and this month's targets were pretty decent.

I have a Diana 350 N-TEC in .22 caliber.  Love that gun. Q. Do you shoot it for Benchrest at 50-100 yards?  If so, how does it group?

I never shot mine past 40 yards, because I used it for indoor 25 yard range targets, backyard squirrels and plinking.

In re-reviewing my card, I zoomed in and I think I made a measurement mistake.  It looks like an even inch for CTC ruler measurement.

Kevin / Bob - you guys call it, thanks!

I'm afraid that I'm not quite sure what you mean by benchrest, is that another competition?...
When I'm shooting for best accuracy; I use sticks, while seated-I rest my elbows on my knees, and use the web of my off-hand to pull the gun into my shoulder with the trigger guard... Haven't shot at 50 much (the one time that I remember, I was putting most shots in a 1" group?), I tend to go from 30 straight to 100-the very best that I've ever shot was not too long ago on a non-standard target-the 5-shot group came in at 1.55"  8)
Been working on repeating that with a regulation target, but then had scope trouble that I'm still getting fixed  :P
It did take multiple tries though-I wait until days where there is little to no wind; and it usually takes two or three targets to 'warm up', get my holdover perfect; and get settled in with my sticks and everything positioned just so... Then I usually shoot three or so more targets, with one being the best for the day, usually at least a qualifying NUAH member target, with the other two being at least close. Then some days when I'm really on my game I get them all to be qualifiers, with one standing out-basically what I'm getting at is while I've pulled off some really good groups, it takes a few tries to get there-I'm just not that consistent (yet)...
