Hi Mike.NICE !Good Hunting & Shooting !Best Wishes - Tom
Thursday - February 23, 2023Yesterday, we had high winds and last night it rained as a front approached. As soon as the rain stopped this morning, I went to the woods; no rain and the wind was calm. Just like me, the squirrels were on the move. I think I had a squirrel version of 'Buck Fever'; because I missed several before settling down and killing two Gray Squirrels. The first was a normal shot. I think she was dead when she hit the ground. But the second one was about 50 yards away when I spotted it. It played around for about 15 minutes. Then it set a course straight for my hiding place behind a Walnut tree. It stopped about eight yards away on top of a fallen limb and looked at me. The pellet hit her so hard, I didn't hear any kicking at all. I think the position she is in was achieved with one small push with her hind legs. There were many squirrels moving all morning and I missed at least three that should have been in my bag. But they will be there next time. Now I am going to get my grandson, and bring him to his first scrimmage baseball game of the season. Great weather for baseball!
Mike, excellent hunt and shooting! Glad the weather relented so you could get out! Nice pics.

My grandson's highlight play was the second half of a double play. The batter for the other team hit a line-drive back to the pitcher. The runner on third had taken a large lead-off, and didn't make it back before my grandson caught the ball thrown from the pitcher. The coaches moved players to different positions each inning. My grandson played Right, Center, and Left fields, and Third Base [twice]. The final score was "1 - 1".Tom, I was hoping you would get a chance to hunt again before the end of the season. But if you just wanted to get out for the exercise, you can always do snow removal.

If it ever happens that it snows enough to need some serious machinery like you have there, I'll call somebody. Down in Louisiana, it was lawn mowers. I have a friend down there that built a riding mower with parts from a FORD Econoline Van. It had a motor for the riding part, and another for the cutter deck. That was a serious machine. I had a good old SNAPPER that stayed in Louisiana and was part of the sale of the home. (I actually enjoy mowing the lawn.)
