Darn the luck.

I bought a '94 C9 a few weeks ago, and haven't had time to do much except chrony it when I first got it.
Yesterday I stripped it down, fitted an adjustable piston to it, and re-sealed it with Mac-1 parts.(I do that with most of my
pumpers). It hits 690 with jsb 13.43's. Today I started sighting in with a Williams and it was hitting 4-5 inches high adjusted all
the way down so I filed down the shelf to bring it down to the receiver and it is still too high even at 5 pumps and with jsb heavies.
If I hold the front sight at the bottom of the aperature it's pretty much dead on.(15-20 yds). kind of frustrating cause the Williams is
the way to go with these if you don't want to scope or have the solder killer rear sight. The only thing I can think to do is look for an older
Sheridan rear or drill and tap the oem sight for small set screws like the Dans.

I'm not so sure I could see the kill zone on a squirrel at that distance much less hit it. I just don't get it , the front sight on my 342 is the same height and it is right where I want it for 20+/- yard shots.

Got a Williams peeper collecting dust in a parts-drawer for the selfsame reason.
On most guns (mine) it flat sits too high.
With a brass post, I’ve built them up higher with a blob of soft solder. If you invert the sight post, gravity will help create a higher ‘blob’ which can be shaped/filed/painted.
With a steel post, silver solder works.

I never thought of solder to build up the front. The mystery to me is same height front sight, same model peep,
such a difference in poi.

Rob, what model Williams peep are you using?
Also, does that year R9 have lateral or cross dovetail grooves on the front sight? Reason I ask that is because if you have the cross (sideways) dovetails, you can fit a Lyman front sight that will sit higher.

I have a late '90s C9A that is the same way. I ended up putting a scout scope on it.

Build up the front site with QuickSteel Epoxy putty. When you get it where you want it and your finished filing, tape up the front and hit it some flat black paint. If you do it right, no one will notice the difference. I had to do this with my M712 Boomhandle that was 7 inches high at 10 meters dave

I have heard of that happening with some of the newer Sheridans, too. I have never seen or heard of that with an older Sheridan , though. I have no idea of the reason, either !

just a thought! I have a '84 C model Dan. Tim put a Williams peep on it and it shot high.....Couldn't lower it any further. After filing and trying to lower it....FUBAR! Ordered one from Midway.... This one lowered all the way down, and it works GREAT! Maybe there are 2 different variants from Williams?

Thanks for the replies guys. I haven't been able to reply , my 19 year old truck decided to retire itself this last weekend so I've been busy with that and
pulling 12 hour shifts all week.
I'm looking thru my hellbilly engineering eyes right now and maybe I 'll thin the round portion of the top part of the Williams or make a low open sight out of
flat stock that just fits where the peep sits. I put a scope on it but I kinda like peeps and opens on my pumpers. Not licked yet
