For shorter range shooting (sub 30 yards) and pest control jobs in tighter quarters, RWS pellets have consistently been one of the best I've used.
There is more to a good pellet (or bullet for that matter) than BC. [...]As for long range performance, one of my favorite past times back then was taking a .22 Beeman R1 shooting no other than cheap Crosman wadcutters and launching them at a Pepsi can at distances of 80 to 100 yards.
For accuracy at long range, my personal preferences are:1. JSB or AA domes2. H&N FTTmuch less preferred and down on 3. Superdomes and Superfields.. all the rest. Sell your gun if it doesn't group with any of the above, because your leadslinger won't group with any pellet. For the US an exception might be some Crosman pellets, but i discount them because of their poor availability here in Europe. The JSB and AA (also from JSB) are soft lead with the best aerodynamics. H&N have higher drop (lower BC) at distance but might group well in your barrel, They are harder lead also, leading to somewhat lower muzzle energy and fpe. RWS pellets are hard as steel compared to JSB. Advantage: they damage less easily. The harder lead makes them leave the barrel at lower speed and energy than JSB and H&N. I find the precision of manufacturing of Superfields and Superdomes is disappointing. All said, within 30 yards they are all good and generally better than other brands. First, for me, in judging a pellet is accuracy and second is drop, which also equates to favorable BC and less winddrift at distance.
They're pricy, but have any of you tried the RWS R-10 Match Heavy 8.2 gr? I've had very good luck with them in a couple of my .177's.

I freely admit I'm not the best of shooters but the target is 20 shots at 25 yards with those R-10 Match heavies using an unmodded Webley Tomahawk .177 I bought from AoA for $100

See how they compare out of my 853s, and p17s...
