Longer bullet in Hatsan mag well

This is the general idea . Cut a grove in the breech to allow longer bullets or pellets to be loaded in a Hatsan BT65 or other using the rotary mags . Using a magazine and a Dremel bit for demonstration purposes , this is of course going to be a challenge . I’ve found a piece of aluminium round stock close to the right OD ,I’ll turn it down to fit in the mag well ,drill out the centring hole as tight as possible to eliminate any slop on the cutter . Next would be to get an adjustable cutter installed. The only issue with this is having a shorter bullet jump the gap to the barrel unless I cut the opposite side . Any ideas how to fix that ? I guess I could mock up the gap and see if it causes any misalignment when loading .

Hope your not mad at me for my screw up!
I have a parts AT44 here so it's a good one to try this on.
Say we take a magazine and add the cutter with a set screw.
I'm seeing we could run that mag with a side motor of some type?
It is aluminium.

I'd take the barrel out as it does not appear to protrude that far back so may not need to notch it.

I’ve got a spare breech also that I can experiment with . Driving it with a motor is a great idea , maybe just a drill with a rubber polishing wheel would work . I’m thinking cutting on the probe side first for a couple of reasons , first is the jump to the barrel and the second is because of the barrel oring sitting so close to the magazine . Not much more than .030” before it becomes an issue . I was thinking of a setscrew also , this could make adjusting way easier than making a complete new tool for the job . What caliber are you using Jeff ?

I don't have a Hatsan here any longer.... but could you not just machine the loading/magazine port wider at the back (or front) and put a collar on the magazine to hold it forward (or back, or centered) in the slot?.... or make a new, wider mag.... This would not work if there is something critical in the receiver that you would machine into.... or if the bolt probe would not retract far enough to allow the mag. to rotate....

Had a bit of time last night to work on the cutter. I should be able to start spinning it tonight . Bob . If I had a milling machine I would probably go that route, but the breech would be quite weak and would need some bracing . I’ll be cutting on the probe side and looks to have enough material there to fit .630 ‘ long projectile while keeping the original magazine to barrel fit.

I got called out for a quick demo job so won't be home for a few days.
Nice thing is it's an old machinery sales place.
You wouldn't believe the stuff I'm finding that will work with my lathe!
Carbide cutters, attachments, drill bits, taps, dies, and it just keeps going on!

After making the tool . I started looking at the breech in detail and after a few measurements . I simply won’t work with the length I had in mind .it can’t be cut on the probe side because of the cocking pin on the bolt . Back to the drawing board . I guess the Cothran QB78 I ave will be the long bullet gun .

Ok here a couple pics of my spare breech after doing a bit of carving with my high precision Dremel . Lol. It isn’t pretty but should do the trick . One downside is only being able to get 6 bullets or long pellets in the magazine . I’ve put some white paint marker where the material was removed so I can check clearance without rubbing . I’ll paint it black to match once I’m done testing . Right now it will cycle up to .640” bullets . I also had to file down the bolt on the one side because it was contacting the back of the next pellet to be loaded.
