I need a little help understanding how these levels work that attach to the scope tube, such as the BKL. Since the scope tube is round, how do you determine where to lock the level? I mean, regardless of the rifle's position, you can rotate the level to center the bubble. I guess I'm missing something, but I just don't see how it works. In order to square up the scope, you first need to know that both the shooting bench, and the rifle are level, I just don't get it.

1. Align the vertical bar of the reticle to bisect the muzzle. To do this, set up a mirror at 5 yards, set your scope's parallax to 10 yards, and look through the scope at your reflection in the mirror. Rotate the scope in the rings until the reticle bisects both the muzzle and the objective bell simultaneously.
2. Now orient the rifle so the reticle is level or plumb...to a known good level or plumb line.
3. With the line oriented this way, lock down the level so it shows level.

Oops! Photos are fixed now :-)
And Jason has a great description of how to use a mirror. I will try that too. In my case I have two screws in the butt end of my stock I made sure these were vertical when aligning (rotating my scope in the rings) the scope crosshair with my plumb line. Then I rotated my bubble level to how level. It'll be interesting to see if how close this brings me to the mirror method...
