Joining this thread a couple days late,, but I'll add my .02. I have a few of the Nikon EFR scopes on airguns and .22 firearms. After the very first one purchased I knew it was going to be a favorite scope for my style of shooting......and style of shooting is possibly the most relevant thought when looking at the two scopes being compared.I bought a Hawke EV model after reading great reports on this site a short time after I joined and really, really liked the MAP6 reticle better than the Nikon Precision Dot. But I found the EV just wouldn't hold up to springer use (3 broken reticles/returns later) it turned into a real "love-hate" relationship. After the EV was discontinued I was issued the new model with etched AMX reticle, VERY nice scope and worthy of spring gun shooting. But, here again the style of shooting comes into play and I just couldn't become accommodated to the AMX reticle with its' "so many lines-hashes" clustered appearance...so it sits on a shelf still in the box. My ending thoughts..... If shooting or pesting (as I do mostly) at similar distances in non or slight varying wind conditions the Nikon is my choice. If field target or any other type competition in any varying conditions is your thing, then probably the Hawke.
