First Lathe project (adjustable brass 1377 piston)

(1/2) > >>

MartinDWhite:
Got may lathe working and adjusted close enough to play with. Made my first non-play part tonight.

John V. a new airgun person near here bought a 1377 (on my advice) and I he loaned it to me. I chornied it at to start with at
5 pumps - 424
10 pumps - 526

Then I took it apart and made an adjustable brass piston to hold the stock rubber cup. Made it to correct dimensions on first try. put it back together and it works. It was my first non-play part and it works. I am very happy. Tomorrow I will chrony it (I Iwould do it tonight, but it is dark and I don't have lights for my chrony). Adjusting the piston for best length is also planned for tomorrow. It is just at the stock length now.

I will also take pics tomorrow.....

MartinDWhite:
ran it over a chrony and it now shots
5 pumps -> 470 fps
10 pumps -> 601 fps
20 pumps -> 664.2 fps with a little left over for a second shot.

There is an o-ring missing, because I don't have any handy. but here it is. My first working part. The slot looks really bad and it is, I cut it with a grinder. A mill is quickly becoming the next purchase....

More parts and pics will be coming soon.

Pete:
looks all right...yer could have milled the slot in the lathe...
