Need help with BSA spring

(1/2) > >>

redtank:
I'm needing a spring for my BSA .22 Super Sport. I've tried James Maccari for one but they don't have anything close. The spring I've got is broken, but even if I can find something close, I can cut it to length and give it a shot. My spring measures .768" OD, .512" ID. and original lenght was a tad over 10". Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Cris

Try these folks: http://www.gunspares.co.uk/
I use them for parts for my BSA pistols - quick, reliable service, from across the pond.

Airguns of Arizona helped me out with a part for my Super Sport. Give them a try. I got results with a phone call.

RedTank...how many coils on your original spring?  The JM E3650 Ultra seems like a candidate...maybe when you talked with him that spring wasnt in stock?  He just made new stock.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting what I needed from www.gunspares.co.uk.  I replaced my broken spring this afternoon and was surprised by how much preload is applied to these springs. I would never attempt these repairs without a spring compressor; I had some tense moments trying to persuade the spring and guide down into the tube. I used a spark plug 13/16" socket to push the spring down. I had ground a channel  into the socket on a surface grinder which allowed me clearance to slide the retainer pin into place. I had bought a few piston seals, but was unable to get the piston past the scope mount, but my guess is I was not having any trouble with the seals anyways. I'll try and tackle the piston seal when it gets cold this winter and I feel up to the challenge.
