The cocking effort won't change, appreciably, unless you put a weaker spring in it...or cut coils. With that particular gun, it's probably best that an experienced tuner take care of the task. He can also work the trigger over while he's at it.

If I simply oil the spring will it maybe sound better? It almost sounds dry while cocking now.

You could tear it down, de burr any rough edges from the chamber, cocking slot and barrel forks. Then use some proper lubes (like Macarri Moly) when you re assemble it. While that won't reduce the cocking effort that much, a properly lubed gun will be easier to cock. It should get rid of some of the cocking noise and rough feel caused from lack of or improper lubes and rough spots. You will want to use a spring compressor before you attempt to tear it apart. If you don't feel comfortable tearing in to it and or you don't have a spring compressor, it might be best left to a pro.

The gun is rough to cock and noisy because the Hatsans have a rough finish on the internals and moving parts, and the barrel pivot requires a lot of break in before it will smooth out. Oiling the spring will not help. Do not put oil into the barrel or the compression chamber.
If you are not familiar enough with disassembling the rifle or mechanically adept enough to do it, your best bet is to have somene else do it, or take some time to research and learn how to do it. The Hatsans commonly need a good cleanup, debur and lube tune to both cock and shoot smoothly.
About the only thing you can do to help at all without tearing the rifle down, is to remove the stock and perhaps apply a little bit of moly lube to the end of cocking arm where it engages the piston. Even then, the Hatsan stock can be a pain to remove for the unfamiliar. Other than that, tuning is the only really effective way to smooth the gun out.
It SHOULD smooth out some and cock more easily and quietly once you get about 500-1k shots through it, though it's not gauranteed. I have an untuned Hatsan with 1500 shots through it that still cocks roughly and remains very twangy.

Thanks for the great replies guys! I think I'll just leave it be and only worry about keeping the barrel clean. I plan on purchasing the RWS 34p Compact next. Which seems to be a great gun. And the stock seems like a breeze to remove. Judging by the YouTube videos I feel like I will really love RWS.
