its a tuned gun by MM and i did great with open sights before then scoped it. it was good for awhile and then opened up like a shotgun. i put a new seal in it today and put about 50 thru it and its still everywhere. do i need to shoot it more or is there something else i missed?

Maybe it's the scope. Try going back to open sights and see if it improves.

May need more then fifty shot's through it for a new seal to seat in and performing. As Jeff mentioned run it through a chrony and it will tell you a bunch. Ed

Good chance it's the scope as I just went threw this myself. Try another scope even if you have to take it off another rifle to try it.

There are many things it can be beside the scope. People tend to discount the mounting, traveling scope, traveling rings, and many other possibilities. If a scope goes, it will more than likely be pretty obvious: you might not be able to see through it, the reticle will not be straight, you might hear something ratling around in the scope. As optical equipment, something almost necessarily has to move for the scope to be broken, and that will just about always lead to other evidence of the failure. e.g, turning of the eyepiece and/or objective or focusing knob would change the focus as well as the POI.
The only points where a problem would not be an out-and-out failure is travel in the turrets. And, Tom and I have discussed this, a turret may actually take a few shots to settle in after a change. I have read about experienced marksmen using shell cartridges to setting a reticle by tapping the turrets. It is not something that just occurs with 'cheap' scopes. The bigger issue there is, you make an adjustment, and then shoot one shot and adjust again... you can end up chasing the POI all over the place. Make a change and take several shots before deciding to make another change.
Swapping scopes may sometimes seem to prove the other was bad, but you change the mounting with the scope, and perhaps do it differently the second time, or tighten what was loose, etc. I think people are often quick to blame the scope... not that a failure can't happen.
I think I'm going to start buying 'broken' scopes ;-)

Tom, you aught to look through the bore against good light. If it appears to your eye that there is crud in the barrel then your teardown/ new seal, fresh lube is probably spittin' out a little excessive lube.(kills your accuracy) If that's the case you might as well run a patch or two and keep shootin' for a while. Lot's of "fresh" guns need to blow out, blow off a little excess for sometimes many, many shots before they stabilize.I recall seeing a post from 454 Big block who resealed his TX200 and had a little too much grease in there and he didn't fix it until he took it back apart, degreased, and re-applied more carefully. Well, just a thought. You might try getting a real repeatable group at close range before you stretch out the range farther.Say 15 yds? Even if if you can't get the ragged hole satisfaction you want at 15 yds due to bad karma, bad pellets bad scope, bad hair or whatever it turns out to be, at least to your mind it will be a lot less frustrating than what 25 or 30 yds groups would look like.Gosh, these trial and error mysteries are what keep the pellet makers in business.I hope you get 'er figured.

If you cut off the front of the barrel did you shoot it after it was cut off, and was it shooting good groups if not you need to re crown the end of the barrel, you cut off the crown. their is some stuff in the liabary on this form on recrowning a barrel. Howie
