Anschutz 380 T : problem with cocking lever and trigger.

G'day,
While shooting my 380T the cocking lever 'locked' fully open, but without cocking the trigger. After thinking about it overnight I think that during the last
complete
shot cycle there was a
slightly
different feel to the cocking action about halfway through its travel, but that was all and the rifle fired perfectly. The action still slides freely as is normal, but it is not possible to close the lever which extends to its [correct] fully open position as it compresses the spring. [The breech is fully open as it should be.] The trigger does not engage [cock] at all at the end of its movement as it should.
I have been trying to find a diagram of the trigger mechanism [not just a parts list] and would be grateful if someone could direct me to such a diagram. With my other 380 RT rifle I once had an issue with cocking and firing, but, after gentle shaking of the action, a small piece of plastic packing fell out of the trigger and all was well. This feels like a similar problem, but I would like to have a clearer idea of the design of the cocking and trigger mechanism and how they interact. The rifle was supposedly overhauled by a gunsmith trained by Anschutz not so long ago. Supposedly he tuned the trigger which is the lightest of all the old 10M rifles I have. I will be contacting him if I can.
Any advice would be appreciated,
Jim

what if we removed all the warning labels, and let nature take it's course?

Try adjusting the trigger a little heavier. It sounds like it might be a little too light.

Hi Scott,
I will do that. It crossed my mind that it might be an issue. I am also wondering if there is a small piece of material just blocking the cocking lever from reaching its fully extended position. I can see inside the trigger housing that the cutout on the piston is not quite going rearward enough by a about 1/16" to be engaged and cock. Nevertheless I will try adjusting the trigger - that's an easy first step.
Thank you for your advice,
Jim
