Title: 100yds under $400?
Post by: stretch on January 23, 2019, 06:46:12 AM
I target shoot at a local range that has targets at 25, 50, 100 and 200 yds.  I'm shooting 100 and 200 yds with my powder burners but am looking for a bit more of a challenge.  I'd like to get started with longer range air but with a budget of $400 or less.  I have scopes and hand pumps already.  I'm leaning towards .22 cal because of the huge selection of pellets and PCP because it won't eat up my scope.  One rifle I'm considering is the Seneca Aspen because I can easily pump up at the range and have lots of control over trigger and power.  But I'm looking at other possibilities.  Thoughts?

I would give the Ati Nova Vista LIBERTY a hard look before i take that Aspen. at $300 you get alot for your money. it is regulated 40-50 shots and can fill to 4300psi. Alot more powerful than the aspen with little work. not to mention very light weight, adjustable trigger, removable pressure chamber. you will pump to 3600psi (best starting pressure) shoot down to 2600psi then fill it back up with hand pump, Carbon bottle, or compressor. the only plus side to the Aspen is that its self efficient with built in pump. Umarex gauntlet can reach 100 yards with accuracy too. Hatsan flash, gamo urban are some of the best guns under $300. I am sure there are others

Thanks for bringing up the Liberty, I hadn't considered it before.  By "removable pressure chamber" do you mean that the Liberty's air tank can be removed and swapped with a filled one like on the Hatsan or AirForce PCP's?  I see I need to do more homework...

All, excellent guns.  100 yards is so addictive.  Something that you already know:  it won't stop with one of these.  These are only the beginning when you shoot at 100.  Have fun!

Stretch, the pressure chamber I r fer to is the Plenum just after the valve. It has an additional vertical mounted rekovable chamber. This can be upgraded to a bigger one for more available CC per shot.
Also, if you so wish. You can also get rid of the main pressure tube with carbon bottle if you can make an adapter. Which I think is very easy with access to lathe.

The regulator is internal adjustable via mini washers. You can also adjust the valve spring tension for more or less power via the semi external wheel between the pressure tube and regulator. This thing is one of the best feature rich air guns I know of.

Ok, I did it.  I ordered an ATI Nova Vista Liberty in .22 with a wood stock.  $306 with the 10% off coupon.  Here's hoping I get an awesome shooter for 50-100 yds.

That is a 43 page thread...most were inquired about availability of the gun.

What is your input on the matter? Any power mod details?

I've shot a NUAH qualifying target with a $125 XS46U. Now it was not a master target but at least would have made the members list. Just saying the dollar amount does not always make it a good shooter.

LOVE my Liberty. I bought a second one and I will making two more walnut stocks in the next few months. Sporter style and Bantam Sniper style. Here is my 100 yard 5 shot group in 10 MPH wind.

Impressive!  I'm still testing my Liberty.  Not quite as accurate as my Disco at 25 yards, but definitely has more power and potential at longer range.  After I get some spare o-rings I may give your latest set of mods a try.

Not with a sub 12fpe region. But I am sure alot of people can do it. Then this is a matter of personal capabilities, not the gun or dollar amount.

ATI is offering the Liberty at an amazing price for a phenominal feature set here in the states (Under $300 with discounts).  Not sure when the political upheaval will hit the retail price as I'm sure the wholesale is in for a 25% tarrif whack.

Baikal imports were killed by past political anti russia anti firearm whims.
