Hey, just to let you know it's working... i.e. getting rid of the HOSPs has resulted in an increase in songbirds in the yard. It's such a nice change having colorful songs vs ratty sparrows.
THEN... this morning a really ODD bird shows up:
I was all about being fascinated... and did a quick Google. Turns out to be a new invasive species 'from Africa'. Article says that it's a parasitic breeder with no local enemies. ugh.
One more species to target?

Thanks Geoff. Stock photo, but that is EXactly the bird in my yard. :-)
Such an odd look. I was delighted until the article said it was a new pest. Then (sadly) I did the squeeze pull thing where i moved laterally on the target by jerking the trigger. He took off in a puff of feathers ~not a solid shot. my bad. I know better.

That is one pretty songbird. Too bad it's an invasive species.

I just finished 2 Dr appt in Fallon and Winnemucca,
while shopping a the local K-Mart stores, I saw numerous Grackles around the parking lots.
Have never seen them before......
None in Lovelock yet........
