To tweak or not to tweak...

Background - I like my low velocity spec Ruger Air Hawk from Flying Dragon. But it might ba a little too low velocity, as it takes a long moment for the piston to end its travel.
This is a great handicap for training (Follow through! Follow through!) but it might be too much of a good thing.
According to Mike, these rifles have standard transfer ports and make low power by using a dainty spring. In a relatively long tube.
FYI, I only have a few hundred shots through mine so it isn't "broken in". Not sure how long that might take in such a low powered gun.
The way I see it, my choices are to keep shooting it to see if it speeds up, or add a washer or two to add preload.
Would you all do either if those, or recommend another option?
FWIW, I really dont see any point in replacing the spring. This particular rifle is performing as a (very) poor mans R7, which is exactly what I want it to do. Its just that the firing cycle is a little TOO long for comfort.
Thanks all!

Tweak it!!! It's half the fun.
Don't know how much you know, but...The Airhawk/Blackhawk are Diana 34 clones. Lots of tuning options. If spacing up the spring doesn't do it for you, other springs are about $20 plus shipping. Vortek and ARH both have springs and kits, I've used Vortek springs. A 810-125-26 spring will put in the 10ftlbs ballpark, a 810-125-28 will get you about 12ftlbs. The first number (810) is outer diameter, second (125) is wire diameter and third is coil count. These springs can use the factory guide. If you want full power (15-ish ftlbs) those springs are available also. Or you can buy a kit. ARH sells spring shims if you want to go that route, or you can make your own. There may be little to no preload on your current setup, but please use a spring compressor just in case.
Hope this helps, even though you don't want to change the spring, figured the information would be helpful. Take it easy.

Thanks Zack.
I'm guessing that its a 5 or 6 fpe gun now, maybe less.
And knowing that its a very light spring, I'm guessing it may have a different ID/OD as well.
I don't know that though.

I forgot to mention, for your spacers you will need an ID measurement of about .556-ish and OD of around .825-ish, if it is to fit over the spring guide and within piston skirt. These aren't exact numbers, but should get you in the ballpark. I haven't spaced up any springs yet, hopefully someone who has chimes in for exact measurements.

I have a little old beaten to heck and back crosman 3100 made in the mid 70's, stock it shot 450 fps with 7.6 grain pellets. I decided that was too slow for me so I found out that nerf gun spring fit perfect as a spacer when fully compressed it is around 2 inches, after that and messing with the piston seal the gun was shooting smooth and pushing around 600 fps.
