Been thinking about a heavy hitting plinker and these two come to mind.Anybody on here have any experience with these two.Not looking for one hole accuracy and all day target shooting here, just want to put the smack down various objects.

Been shooting .22 airguns for decades. They rattle plinking targets just fine and ammo/cleaning components are real ez to find.
Never felt the need for a .25

Purchased an XS28M in .25 cal from Mike at Flying Dragon, with the full tune, this past summer. The gun is more accurate than I am and a real beast to shoot. Hard hitting, a bit hold sensitive until finding the sweet spot and tiring to cock during a full afternoon of target practice. This airgun is truly a magnum springer and has become my 'go to' for longer range shooting at ground squirrels and other non-game critters - or if I just want to knock something over. Just need to calibrate and remember the rainbow arch of pellets in flight.
Mike at Flying Dragon treated me well and performed a wonderful tune on my rifle: smooth cocking and a nice trigger pull/let off. H&N Field Target Trophys are running about 750 ft/sec at the muzzle and the gun isn't even broken in yet; still have maybe 250 -> 300 more pellets to go. Oh yeah, I am getting 1/2 inch groups at 20 yards with a standing rest.

I always enjoy the gun in my hands.

Delmar,
I have a full tune XS-28 in .22 from Mike. I also ordered the .25 and .177 barrels. The gun makes more power in .22. .25 is close. .177, it's not optimized for and can't take advantage of the shot cycle timing. Maybe if it had a much longer barrel but I don't know.
I was shooting Benjamin
e
.25 domes at about 630 fps. The .22's at a higher velocity. So they would shoot flatter at longer ranges.
If you were shooting at close range I would use the .25 barrel and open sights. But out beyond 20 and 30 yards. I think you'd be better off with .22.
I don't shoot mine much, honestly. Pcp's making less power take the majority of my shooting/pesting time.
Thanks,
Taso

.25 yields near max energy with maximal momentum. IMO is the max power caliber.
.22 yields optimal energy with near max momentum. You won't see the difference between .22 and .25 on game, other than .22 offers a flatter trajectory and therefor a little more range.
.177- No!! Just no. Too much power for optimal accuracy in .177, plus the tiny bore strangles this powerplant too much.

Thanks for sharing your experience guys. Both .22 and .25 advantages. Going to be a tough choice. No way would I get this gun in .177 Made that mistake years ago with my r1 and eventually swapped it out for .22 and what a difference it made.
Being live in at around 3000ft elevation I’m leaning towards the .22 just because it’s a possibility I’ll lose quite a few fps/fpe like I did both my other springers.

I'd opt for the. 22. Since you are buying from Mike, you might ask what the extra .25 barrel might run? As for fps lost at elevation, someone made an actual trial. Might be here on the GTA or the Yellow Archives. It was a pretty interesting thread.
