Walther Parrus 22 problematic sights out of box

On a whim, I bought a Walther Parrus .22. So far it seems like a bad choice.
I cleaned the barrel when I got it, was absolutely filthy. Took it to the range, had a target set up at 50 yards (was sighting in a 22lr as well) and it did group OK, but high and to the right.
Looking at the rear sight, there are numbers on the elevation knob, do they mean anything? Or just index marks? I dropped it to '0', which did lower the next group, but not enough.
The bigger issue is that the rear sight is, for lack of a better descriptions, really bad. The blade piece is just floating, I can push on it and it'll shift *and stay where it shifted*. So obviously it's moving with each shot since this thing kicks like a mule. Since it was shooting right, I tried to move it left, and it will not move. The screw just jams and it stays on center. It will adjust right, but that's not helping.
I suspect the real answer is just to get a shipping label from AOA and send it back (as soon as I locate enough cardboard, this thing is 4 feet long and the original outer box is long gone...) but hoping someone has maybe fixed this?
The day wasn't a complete loss, my recently acquired CZ 457 Trainer was consistently shooting superbly. Just hoping there is some way to salvage this Walther.

I don't have a cure for the Walther but many gun shops discard the boxes the guns came in. You could also try the box for fluorescent tubes or fixtures.

If you decide to keep the Parrus - you could try a different rear sight ( Umarex is very proud $$$ of the replacement from them )
Another source of an open rear sight is the Benjamin/Crosman rear sight for the Benjamin NP Pistol part # S3-02-200A
It mounts on the dove tail grooves as far back as you want - it is fully adjustable and cheap also - less than $10 plus shipping.
I have one on my Parrus .177
Call Crosman

I went right to a scope on mine, never tried the open sights. Had problems with the scope moving backwards on the dovetail until I bought a Bullseye ZR Mount from AoA. Money well spent on a kicker like this. But am getting better groups now.

Lol. Ya buddy. Mine moved easy as well and changed with a bump .
I just made shims to help hold them firm and it made the improvement.
Just make sure you can still adjust the sights after you shim
The 2 blade shims are glued in the elevation one is not but a tight fit so it stays .
