Title: cork shot gun
Post by: the fuse on August 14, 2017, 12:25:52 PM
Not sure if this belongs here but didn't know where else to put it. It's more of a spring gun than an airgun but it's so cool. Reminds me of a trench shot gun from WWI. Got it at the flea yesterday. It wouldn't cock and was pretty rusty. I straightened the rods that connect the pump handle to the mainspring and reattached the wing rivet on the mainspring assembly to the cocking arm. Shoots fine now. I also cleaned up the rust a bit. The stock seems to be a nice hardwood....hickory or walnut?? It's a cork repeater. Holds maybe 6 cork balls in a spring fed magazine and shoots as fast as you can cock it. It's marked: "All-Metal Products Co." Wyandotte Mich.  I have a crush on it.  :-\

Does it shoot cork balls that are about .30 to .38 caliber?  I had a cork gun like that when I was a kid.

We lived in Plattsburgh AFB at the time.  That was in 1965 when my Father retired from the Air Force.

I use to run around the base housing area with that thing all the time.  Like Chuck Conners on "the Rifleman," it never left my side.

I wonder what would happen to a kid with a cork gun in a base housing area today.  Don't tell me; I think I know.

I don't know what happened to that gun after we left New York.  Maybe it made it's way south to where you are now.

Congrats on the nice purchase.

I think it takes 1/2" cork balls. Looks like it will hold about 6 in a spring fed magazine. I'm going to buy some 1/2" balls for it and see what's what. BTW I live in NY just south of Poughkeepsie.

Nice looking for an older gun.
Great work getting it going again. Should be a lot of fun.
