Main Spring manufacturing

Hi all,
Does anyone know if it's worth while in venturing into making custom or OEM main springs for springer AG's ? The only reason for asking is that I am a wire manufacturing engineer that deals with lots of different kinds of high fatigue specialty "spring type" alloys and I have been getting pretty close to a customer of mine that has a spring forming company. I want to get the spring guy interested as long as there might be a market for the niche main spring. Any opinions ?
Thanks..

With 2 very reputable sources already offering Air gun springs / kits etc ....
here in the states really don't see much potential to break into the others established business.

That's what I was kind of figuring.
I wouldn't be sure if we could bring anything outstanding to the market.
Anyway what I had in mind was using 2 alloys such as PH17 and 1RK91 which are precipitating alloys that yield high tensile strength > 400,000psi and have extremely high fatigue lives along with another alloy called Mp35n that is known for it's high fatigue life.
Since I know how to coat them with various polymers that hold up to coiling processes and heat treatments up to 800f, I thought there could be a small niche market for it. Using the coating for sound dampening and self lubricating.
It was a thought.

I would do more research into what the other guys are doing and see if there is a feasible way to improve on it. Heck, if you have some good ideas you may be able to do some business with them. I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I think that in your position, its worth exploring before you tank the idea.

I would suggest producing springs not commonly available. I often run into no availability of aftermarket springs for some Chinese rifles, which imo would sell well were someone to offer them. Another thing I have found is no availability of true custom springs. In order to get a one off made, you pay a giant premium that could literally purchase 10-15 plain aftermarket springs. If you could affordably produce springs to customer specs, I suspect you'd find yourself inundated with requests.
