My disco is hard to cock sometimes so I don't want to continue shooting it or it will cause damage, and I have no other airgun where I'm without a shooter now. I talked with several people here and none of them are able to make the parts I need for several months to come, so I'm wondering if there's anyone here who would be able to help me.
The reason for this issue is that the hammer pin wobbles which often creates misalignment with the cocking screw resulting in the hammer pin mashing against the tube's guide rails damaging them which causes friction and shavings, and also causes the bolt's cocking screw to mash against it's channel in the breech gouging the breech sides and creating shavings as well, both of which make cocking even more difficult.
I need a hardened screw-in hammer pin made and my hammer tapped for it as well. I need the pin to have an enlarged shaft at a wider OD than the current pin so there is no slack between it and the tube's guide rails which will help keep the pin centered in the middle, and I also need the top of the pin's shaft to have a flat side where the cocking screw pushes against it where no side pressure will be applied to it so the pin will not try to push against one side of the tube's guide rails or the other as happens right now due to the misalignment of the round surfaces of both contacting parts.
The top of the pin would need a hex groove cut into it as well so that the pin could be tightened solid into the hammer. Gene told me the best thing to make it out of is drill rod since it won't bend like 8 grade steel will. I've had one cocking screw in the bnm breech bend so making a replacement screw out of drill rod sounds like a good idea as well.
Sanding the cocking screw's breech channel and tube's guide rails to make cocking easy are only temp fixes since the misalignment of the cocking screw and hammer pin still often occurs which always causes the damage to reoccur after cocking over time where it becomes hard to cock again. I've been through 2 tubes, 3 breeches, 2 spring guides, 2 trigger assemblies, and 4 hammers during troubleshooting, so I know it's not those parts causing the issue.
If anyone could help me by making these parts where I won't be months without an airgun and my cocking problems will finally be a thing of the past then I'd deeply appreciate it.
NOTE: This topic has been moved to Engineering- Research & Development.
I've been watching this one. Maybe it will get a response action here.

The only way for it to be cocking is if the hammer itself is too small dimensionally... At least if I am thinking correctly...
If the raceway is polished smooth so there is little to no friction and the pin is the same and hard, with lube there should be little problem. The only reason material would be removed if one piece was rough OR extreme force was applied. But even with force, if BOTH parts are glass smooth and there is lube present, the galling should be near nil...
Look at the dims of there hammer first...

Ive had similar issue with my disco and I tried polishing the hammer and put silicon grease in the tube but sometimes its still very hard to cock. Im thinking drilling a small hole at the front where it hits the pin. Going to try that if it keeps getting locked up. Wondering if that works ?

If you need a hardened pin (not screw anyway) you can always cut a drill bit of the correct size and used the smooth untwisted part. I always so this when I need pins for the trigger or any other part, and you will be surprised how well the drill bit will fit. To cut the drill bit I suggest you use a jewelers' saw, it cuts bit very quickly and neatly.

Ven are you talking about cutting out a notch in the cocking screw head so the pin will fit in it? If so that may be good as long as you could still turn the screw with a hex wrench when needed, but you may find that you need a stronger cocking screw if that modified one bends.
Thanks David but I don't have the parts or the experience and am needing someone to make the parts mentioned in my original post. Would you be able to?

I'm located in Egypt, I would help if I could, and cutting a drill bit is so simple you don't need any special tools just visit your local hardware shop it will coast you next to nothing.

With all due respect, if you're still using a 2" or shorter hammer spring made from 0.047" wire, that is the source of your problems.... You are trying to patch a problem you created by going overboard on the forces required to cock the gun.... I've made Discos well over 100 FPE, so I have quite a bit of experience in the matter.... Once the cocking force goes over about 15 lbs. you need to go to a rear cocking mechanism, or a side handle on the hammer and forget the cocking pin.... You won't be able to tap the hole in the hammer, it is hardened.... You will have to have a custom hammer made, all the machining done while in the annealed state, and then hardened afterwards.... It may be possible to anneal the Crosman hammer, I have no idea, but trying to tap it without doing that is just a recipe for a broken tap and a ruined hammer....
If you need more hammer energy than you can get with my 1.75" x 0.040" hammer spring at coil bind (14 lb. cocking force) I would suggest you set the gun up for increased hammer travel and change to a QB hammer spring.... Although it is made from 0.047" wire, it's increased length and number of coils make it easier to cock for the same energy.... Even so, when you approach coil bind with that spring you will still find you need a rear or side cocking mechanism.... The cocking mechanism on the Disco is made for an effort of about 8 lbs.... Try and go more than double that, and you are just asking for trouble....

That's right Bob I did have problems with the .047" spring so for months now I've been using the .041" spring with the power adjuster gapped at .250" for mid power which is all I need. I had problems before that with the oem setup as well so it was not the modding that created the issue however. Would you be able to make the parts I mentioned?

I don't make parts for others, sorry, just not enough time to get my own stuff done.... I know you've had some serious issues with your guns, and I'm at a loss to explain them as I've never seen those things happening.... My gut feel is that you are trying to get more than is realistic.... but it's just a guess....

Oh ok I understand that believe me.
I'm only shooting at 15fpe so not too much pressure there. No more power needed than that.
