1/8" fpt coupler

this may be a stupic question but I'm needing a coupler for HPA. i don't really trust what I can get at home depot so was thinking about making my own on my lathe. I have the tap so thats not an issue.
only stock that I trust to be of quality that i have in stock is 1/2" drill rod. Is 1/2" drill rod large enough to make a 1/8"fpt female to female coupler?

It is large enough to turn and thread with male threads (just don't drill it out too large).... but I would not drill and tap that to 1/8" NPT female threads as the wall thickness will be minimal.... The tap drill is 11/32", which only leaves 0.078" wall in the middle of the coupler, and less than that after you run the tap into it.... It depends on the pressure, but I'd use 5/8" material....

You can get a female to female hydraulic coupler, steel, heavy wall, with a hex in the middle, that will do the job....
