Tune for stock HFT Marauder?

From the reading I'm doing, seems like a MRod can be made into a pretty decent HFT rifle; Huma regulator, light hammer, modified valve and either get lucky with a 177 factory barrel, keep trying with replacement factory barrels (until you do get lucky) or go for a different barrel like the Lothar Walther match barrel from the Crosman Custom Shop. Then custom bits for the stock for best FT hold.
For someone beginning though (like me), I've got a completely stock, new, 177 Gen 2 Marauder.
I'd like to get started. I'm not even sure I'll like FT. Anyone got a decent tune prescription for the stock transfer port, hammer stroke and hammer spring plus a pellet to begin with? I've got mine tuned now for JSB Exact Heavy shooting at about 850 fps. I don't think my barrel is a lottery winner.
From a rest, I've shot my Hammerli 850 COČ with one hole dime sized groups at 25 yards. I've even thought about using the Hammerli to get started except it runs out of steam beyond 35-40 yds.
From that same rest, my MRod is doing 1 -1.5" groups at 25 yds that look like scatter gun groups. I've tried over a dozen different pellets; Crosman, JSB, H&N, etc.
To do well, I'm pretty sure the existing barrel will need to go.
Still, I'm pretty lost getting the balance right between the three adjusters on the MRod.

The Marauder is a wonderfull gun for field target, make a search on the forum, there are countless conversations about tuning it and an incredible amount of mods to make it even better., you can also find a ton of videos on how to do it.
I have one and gives me a lot of chances to prove that can be hand to hand with almost any rifle for HFT.
IŽm selling it now, not because any problem but because I want to step up to an even more serious gun.
Best.

Our club gun is very competitive- a little chrony work, BStaley tune, a little lightening of the trigger. 30 passes with bore paste, and lots of trigger time, getting the power curve down to Max 10 fps difference for a 60 shot string- what's not to like?
Check the crown, qtip for burrs, check for nice smooth transition.
Is the barrel shroud at the correct tightness? Is the barrel full floating or touching the barrel ring? Play with shimming that?
It's a weekend of solid shooting, take notes as you go and I bet you'll get darn close to what you need.
Then you see if you like the sport at your current investment and perhaps, invest more as you get more certain in what you want. Best!

... barrel full floating or touching the barrel ring?
Martin, thanks for this list of practical prescriptions to try! When I got my MRod, it was shooting far to the left. The barrel band was indeed touching the shroud. I realigned the band and at least that part was detected and corrected! I'll give the rest a try too.
