I posted this on Big Bores, but it belongs here as well:
Roach Creek, Lani52 for those than just learned of him, is signing off. His eyesight is failing fast.
This hurts. RC and I go back years. It was RC that got me into Big Bores and Casting.
RC is responsible for many trying Big Bores. We owe him a lot!

Sorry to hear that, RC basically pioneered long range air gunning...showed a lot of folks it was possible.
Nothing but respect for "Dirty Harry" as I once called him...good man.
Wish him well.

A loss for sure . I think I’ve read most of his posts . All of which had some impact on my choices between halving to sizing bullets .

I'm floored. RC wrote me this evening, and I was shocked to learn one of the reasons he left is the ridicule of his handicap.
As most of you know, RC is virtually blind. Lost one eye, and can only see one letter at a time on the screen, making it virtually impossible to understand, or respond well. I just learned that one respected member here has been giving me grief over his spelling, or missed words, which embarrassed RC badly. He may be disabled, but he still has pride.
I am ashamed that a Member here has taken it upon himself to degrade a disabled person, especially one who has given so much of himself to others and this Sport We all love so much. .
I am Seriously PO'd
at hearing of this.

Knife ... you should be upset. What that member has done is wrong on so many levels! My mother lost one eye and is in about the same condition with the other one so I understand.

Michael I hear where you're coming from! My younger brother's good eye is pretty much gone now from glaucoma and his left is on it's way out and he simply loves shooting of all sorts. I'm blessed to still have good eyes myself with 2020 vision from arms length out but you can bet that I told the people at the VA to make sure they give me my eye tests every so often because my mother had glaucoma as well.
It's terrible that people can be so inconsiderate to zero in on a person's disability like that.

there should be no place for ridicule on GTA, the majority of the members go out of their way to help others on the forum, something i really appreciate, as a "family" we are there for each other and should carry our fellow airgunners through the battlefield of life, we will all end up more frail then the day we arrived, obviously our words and interactions are really important, as stones cast in the pond create ripples our interactions do very much the same for example Wayne's heart felt words about SPA led to getting a well known airgun co. to have a better foothold in the USA

To whoever that member may be they should consider the consequences of theis mocking words. I have been legally blind in my left eye from birth and as a teenager had one of the nastiest bullies in my high school grab me with a couple of his cronies and hold a sharpened pencil to my good eye and threaten to put my eye out. Needless to say it didn't end well for them. I ended up suspended for a week pending dismissal. I still have the eye and it works fine and I am sure that his upper denture works fine as well.
I'm not proud of the ensuing brawl that his threat caused because to this day I can still feel the fear and anger that he created in me. The rage brought me to a place that I never want to go again and the repercussions that ensued will always haunt me.
There is no place for bullying on this forum and beyond that I will remain silent

Don, I know it was a bad experience, but you statement about the false teeth made me loose it in a burst of laughter.
I know exactly how you feel. I was a very small small child. As a result, I was the target of a LOT of bullying. My last year in HS, I had a huge growth spurt before returning for the 12th grade. The bulling stopped. somne if it in a not so pleasant way.
During Desert Storm, we closed our Archery Shop, adn to make ends meet, (this was before my knives hit huge collector status), I took a JOB selling Chevy trucks.
I was carjacked by a member of a well known gang, and taken to a Kill house. They had been doing this in several US Cities. They had killed, and video taped their deeds over a few years.
Being x leo, I always carried my small back up. It didn't end well for tem at all. I still have night mares about it to this day. Some gang members showed up at my house on a freezing Feb. night about 2 o:clock in the morning. I had a tip they were coming. I was on the roof with my old duty pump. They all are in prison to this day.
The most of entire gang, based in Chicago was eventually arrested, including the mastermind. The gang was Satan's Disciple.

Bad people for sure I have always stayed on the right side of the law but Like you my first 2 years of HS were less than fun I was a little guy and no reverse gear even then. After my growth spurt I went from 5'2" and 125 to 5'10 and 195 my dad was ex army ranger during WW II and semi pro boxer before the war. Once I started to grow he had me working on a garbage truck whenever I was not in school. My 195 was solid and the things he taught me were a blessing and a curse. Lets just say that even to this day my tolerance for bullies in any form is 0.0%

I was a small guy in school too ... 1/2 the height of my classmates. I was never left alone till it became known I carried (no one ever saw my EDC because it would NOT come out unless a life was threatened with no possibility of retreat .... never had to take it out to this day). Unfortunately I am still waiting on that growth spurt at age 60 (never got much taller just wider). lol

I'd like to believe this unnamed member didn't know of the situation when commenting on the spelling. Who would really do that here.

Oh no, that may have unintentionally been me and I am devastated if it is.
I will send him an apology and also say it here.
A couple of days ago he posted and I did not know he had a problem and just thought he had hit the enter too soon or something like lost connection while typing or it got corrupted and was just joshing/kidding him like people do and has been done to me.
It just reminded me of a happy time when one of my children was growing up and had a slang word for their favorite food and what he had typed was the same and I felt warm from the remembrance.
Seems I was thoughtless and am sorry. I communicate so well in person but do so badly with a keyboard.
NO RIDICULE OR DISRESPECT WAS MEANT!
Update: Just in case it IS me I took responsibility and sent a PM to him apologizing

Hate to hear he is not able to enjoy the sport anymore especially to a disability. Its got to be hard enough to deal with that alone.
