IMHO!I cast for ALL bores of guns, small to large. No Sir, casting in not looked upon as metal working. Nor is it looked on as fabrication. A foundry is not looked on as metal working. These are entirely different fields. Just as a welder is a fabricator or repair man. You are confusing tradesmen with craftsmen. Not in the same league or pay grade. A Machinist being one of the highest paid tradesmen, And Pipe Fitter being one of the highest tradesmen, He is a machinist or a Pipefitter. Neither are called metal workers in the crafts. Although a Machinist works with metals and other materials, a true metal worker is a for instance, Gold Smith. Silversmith. Black Smith, Bladesmith. Hence the Title Smith. Titles respected the world wide, and over the centuries. I may stir up some concrete, but i'm not a construction engineer. I may build a house, but I'm no Home Maker. My wife is, and I don't' want that job! LOL Titles in the trades and Crafts have meaning, and their places. It seems simply that you are not fully aware of them or what they are. .

I do have a nice knee mill, and heat treating oven. but no room for a lathe. Man I need one! Love machine work. it has always fascinated me!Your field is another one that always fascinated me. I hold a GIA certification in Diamonds. , but never could get a handle on grading precious stones. So many twist and turns. Diamonds in comparison are just easy. LOL Mike
