Hey all I'm new here. Hope this is the right gate to post my new project. I'm combining what I feel are the best part of a Crosman 1400 with a 2100.
My goal is to create a rifle with more power hopefully 16+ ftlbs in 15 pumps while correcting some of the problems inherent in the 766/2100 platform.
1. More power.
To achieve this I went with the larger valve of a 760.
2. Less pumping.
I plan to pump to higher pressures (overpump). I do not want to pump 20+ times. So I am modifying The pump tube and piston from the 1400. Longer stroke = less pumps. Also using these 1400 parts will give me an easy to adjust steel piston with a 2100 pump cup. I may change to flat top system later. I have a flat top valve head available, but the old 1400 piston cup was shot and changing that part is beyond my current reach.
3. Barrel Wiggle
The 2100 does not have a very stout attachment between the pump tube and barrel shroud. I plan to silver solder or weld an attachment point to the steel pump pivot of the 1400 then mechanically attach the barrel to this L-shaped bracket.
4. Details
Of course lighter valve spring, heavier hammer spring, lightened trigger, barrel crowning and such....
5.Cosmetics
The plastic has to go. I will make a wood stock set for the rifle. Probably fill and paint or duracoat the receiver halves and other metal parts.
So, what do you guys think? I'm open to advice.

Do you currently have a working 1400? I really like mine, and it is a better rifle than the 2200, 2100 series.
I think by the time you are done the results would have been better and you would be happier having a steroided 392, and a gone over and tuned 1400.

No I was given some parts by a friend. Apparently the 1400 was taken apart and the trigger set and barrel were misplaced. I also have a Diana 52 that's butter smooth and am planning on getting a PCP.
Money is tight right now that's how this project came to be. I'm not planning on spending any money since I have all the parts. If it's a shooter great if not oh well. Plus I wanted to try something different.

Sounds like an interesting build.
So will this gun have a hammer valve instead of the stock blow off valve?
Been making this 2200 lately. It gets 19 FPE with 15 pumps and 14.3 grain CPHPs.
23 FPE with 34 grain JSB Beast pellets.

Also modded a 140 to take a steel breech, hammer valve, MRod trigger etc.

Hey Tackdriver, now that's what I'm talking about. Beautiful work man. Great results with power too.
As far as the valve Its a hammer strike. Just fits easier with the build cuz I'm using the 2100 clam shell.
I'm also working on a barrel extension for an integral and permanently attached type shroud system. I did one on another 2100 it was filled with open cell packing material and silver soldered on. Totally silent, you could only hear the spring twang from the hammer.
