Looking at a Hatsan 135-22cal , are these durable piston guns? And issues with breaking? What kind of velocities are you getting with the 22? Thank you

My experience is they meet factory claims on FPE, best bang for your $ if looking for an economy break barrel that delivers. Not sure how experienced you are with magnum springers, but they take a bit of extra shooting finesse to get consistent accuracy.

Hatsan fan here. IMHO...
A BIG HEAVY POWERFUL AIR RIFLE!
Contrary to other manufacturer claims, when working properly, the Mod135 in the larger (not 177) calibers is the most powerful production breakbarrel made - period.
NOT easy to shoot and a SOLID WORKOUT when shooting 50-100 pellets on targets.
Mine was a factory refurb. Very slight stock blemish but half normal price. LOVE the Turkish Walnut even with a slight blem.
CPHP just under 1000 fps, but I will "refresh" my data soon.
Hatsans are easy (for me) to work on. Internals are pretty simple. Factory seals, when in stock, are cheap. You DO need a stout spring compressor with at least a 4" travel when working on COIL spring models. Quattro trigger can be frustrating initially, but it IS a pretty good trigger once you UNDERSTAND how to assemble and adjust it.
I have a BIG preference for the COIL spring versions OVER the Vortex air spring versions. I just had ANOTHER Vortex (older Mod87VQE-25) leak down to "0" during seasonal storage. Pumped it back up (cheap hand pump) to 125 BAR and submerged in water to check for leaks. None visible so no new o-rings for that Vortex... YET. I'm just REALLY TIRED of getting LIMP leaked Vortex air springs when I pull a rifle from seasonal storage to feed it some pellets.
The Vortex models DO shoot solid right from the box. NO tuning is usually needed. Coil spring models MAY have some harsh SPRING TWANG due to a TINY inadequate factory spring guide. I make my own spring guides for Mod125/Mod135s and once installed those coils spring rifles shoot just as smooth as the Vortex air spring models.
AGAIN, this is a big heavy workout breakbarrel that takes TIME (LOTS of PRACTICE) to learn how to shoot accurately. If you are looking for a challenge, here it is!
If you want a plug & play all day carry hunting rifle this may NOT be the best choice!

I have the 135 in 25 cal vortex. Mine recently needed the gas piston replace. Like Mikey indicated above from the piston slowly losing pressure over time. I bought a replacement piston but I'm not convinced the replacement piston came with full pressure. It was pushing FTTs at about 550fps- not much faster than my .25 Edge. I've been meaning to post about it but I've been sick a lot here recently. So, I'm wondering if its possible to convert a 135 to spring and if so how one may be able to do so. My caveat is that I cannot make a spring guide. I'd need to buy one from someone.
to the OP, if you really wanted a budget springer, a .22 cal Edge is a good choice. Spring powered, not vortex, just to spare yourself from that hassle. They also aren't nearly as big and heavy as a 135. And to answer your question about the 135 being rugged, yeah these guns can hold up to rough handling. You can drag it through the woods with you. Some people buy Hatsans specifically so they can use them in rough conditions and not feel bad about it like they would if they had a pretty, finely crafted German airgun.

I already have the 30cal carnivore. A beast.
Since I have another 22 with a boat load of pellets I was thinking of the 135-22. But if it’s the same cocking lb as the 30!…. That’s a workout

I have the 30 cal carnivore and a .25 cal 135. What I did was switch the stocks. I prefer the .25 cal action being on the plastic stock and have the wooden stock on the .30 cal action. I refinished the wooden stock. So I try to take care of that one. I do more shooting with the .25 cal; so I wanted the more rugged plastic stock for it. Something to consider if you get a 135 in .22.

IMO .25 caliber is almost a perfect match for the powerplant of the slightly less powerful mod 125. With the greater swept volume of the mod 135 it should be perfect for .25 caliber and maybe a little less efficient in .22 caliber. I'm planning on purchasing a mod 135 (eventually). Just waiting for a .25 caliber refurb to show up on Hatsan's website.
