First off, I admit I am not a pro when it comes to " TWANGER " air rifles. I once owned a very powerful Springer [ TWANGER ] that I could not shoot accurately with any consistence. I would shoot 3-4 good shots, then a flyer. One day I picked it up & held it firmly, like I was shooting a high powered hunting rifle. That was the clue. Try if that helps.

Then takes a second to get your bearings back after your brain gets rattled
---snip---Now, it could be my technique is contributing to the pellets hitting the cap, but my thought is that the shroud is slightly off-center to the barrel. I’m thinking of boring out the cap a little. Can anyone see any harm in that? Maybe it will make it a bit louder? Is there anything wrong with firing these with baffles and cap removed? Obviously it will be loud, but it doesn’t look like the end cap supports anything except holding the baffles in.
