The photos are the parts of an FX Cyclone air cylinder I purchased in order to install a regulator.
I drained the cylinder and removed the rifle side brass end cap (photo tube3sm). peering inside the tube i expected to find an empty tube, but instead, i find a brass plug (photo tube2sm). Thinking it was part of the fill cap unit, I then unscrewed the fill cap (photo tube1sm).
neither the rifle side end cap nor the filler end cap align with this part in any way.
the plug, as you can see is brass, has o'rings on each end and has a 5mm hole drilled completely through it. the other end, which you can't see is flat (no indentation as with the top side).
can someone please explain what this is for? when i first saw it, i though, oh, they sent me a tube with a regulator already installed, but this device is NOT a regulator. if i had to guess, it is there to slow the flow of high pressure out of the air cylinder.... could this be the gizmo that is helping make the out of the box shot strings more consistent than previous models?
i didn't check the tube that came with the rifle, but i will now.
and i bet that if i put a regulator in the cylinder, i won't be needing this device.

I sent Airguns of Arizona (where i purchased the cylinder) a photo of the device I found in the tube, and they responded:
"Looks like the vibration damper on a FX Tarantula"
Ok, I have a Cyclone which uses the same tube...
So, does only the Tarantuala need this device or is FX now sending it out in all air tubes?
I also sent a correspondence to FX for clarification, but to date have not heard from them.
No matter, I installed a regulator in the tube and left it out. now the device is a paperweight.

Looks to me like a factory installed depinger.

If indeed it IS a de-ping device ? ... Your correct on omitting it once regulator is in place.
Regulated guns Don't ping simply because the Reg is at valve and the sound impulse of valve opening / closing is blocked from main air tube ... thus no ping

It is a depinger. Stops resonant air waves from traversing the tube making the ping sound heard from Marauders. I installed an Altaros reg in my Cyclone and left the depinger out cause the reg blocks the ping.

thanks for all the input. i ended up selling it to a guy who actually wanted a de-pinger, so it has found a new home.
