Why don’t you do this.Put both rifles together.Shoot them over the clock.If the FPE is close to what was historically stated for an 822- leave it alone and focus on accuracy.If it’s loud or you don’t want the soda straw floating in the tube, get the dimensions and get a 3D printed LDC made.
The other alternative is a .22LR barrel liner, but I don’t know if all the land/groove dimensions are correct for pellets at an 880 power level.Some have turned down a crosman barrel to fit.
You could try adding a section of smooth bore barrel ahead of the rifled section like Motorhead was experimenting with
