Same power out of less gas? Lighter hammer and/or stiffer valve spring would get you less gas. Now you would need to make that gas flow more efficiently. Altered bolt probe? Smooth off all the transfer bottle necks? Hmmmmmm.

I've been thinking of using the Dremel and rotary files to do a lil porting...

Let us know how you get on. I've thought of trying that with my 180's......they already deliver less gas.

I've thought about doing a bolt probe mod, and probably will at some point.
I'd rather do it to a spare bolt in case I don't like the results, but I'll have to source another bolt.
I tried a high power valve from Mike at Flying Dragon in it.
His valve as supplied had a stiffer spring than what was in my original valve.
Since I figured the stiffer spring was for the Chinese rifles I swapped in the softer spring from the original valve.
It worked well and yielded 740fps with CPHP's, but with each shot velocity fell about 5fps for a total of only 20 usable shots on the two 12 gram carts.
So I put the stock valve back in as it was more consistent from shot to shot.
I wonder if the softer spring in my stock valve is original ?
Maybe the stiffer spring from the FD valve would work better in my stock valve.
Or maybe I should have left the stiff spring in the FD valve.
More questions than answers.
I'll probably just have to experiment with it but I HATE taking the rifle apart so many times.
I enjoy shooting it WAY more than working on it HA !!!

Just make one from a 1/4" drive socket. I used a 4" grinder with a cutoff wheel, it was fast and easy and good to have because I've used it on a 106 and 114. It's a 3/8" and fits nice.

I made one out of an old wore out socket.
The flat steel bar will work well too, ya just need to find the right width to fit inside the tube.

Thanks!
I have sacrificed many a socket to the Die Grinder Gods to make specialty tools.
So I am well accustomed.
Much appreciated guys

I used the spring out of the Baker seal kit if I remember right? I also bought the newer Crosman valve assembly and assembly parts kit from the big A. Maybe spring was there's? Black spring that was longer. Or maybe just not compressed from the bolt closed squeezin' it for decades in closet after closet till recently? The Optima scope went south internally ( big surprise there-not!). So I swapped on the extra Centerpoint 4x32 I swapped off the Crosman optima I gave my son last April. Here's three Gamo Targets with 3 shots each @ 10 yards as measured. I used RWS superpoint extra pellets @ .22cal, 14.5gr.
Not bad by the second target when I finally got the scope adjusted pretty decent. Still waitin' to hear from Hatsan USA about the Optima 3-9x32...
