Crosman Mk1 in the house.
Keen:
I offered to fix this for a friend of mine and he said I could keep it!
New seals in the piercing assembly, some silicone lube on the bolt guide seal and it's chucking 14.35 JSB Express across the yard at 430+ FPS. No accuracy tests yet.
Serial # looks like 666727 but hard to see.
Feeling pretty pleased at the moment ;D
Keen:
So a few more shots and velocity is consistently 430 to 436, which is a bit quicker than I thought these pistols shot. There is a louder muzzle bark than expected too.
Questions: Does the power adjustment screw work in a linear fashion, or is it a 1 or 2 stage adjustment? I'm thinking that turning down the power might reduce the noise a bit.
Do the velocity numbers suggest a healthy gun or one that needs more attention?
The trigger feels a bit mushy with some creep before let off. Any suggestions for adjustment?
Any suggestions for repainting/finishing?
Thanks All.
Jonah:
MKI and MKII are both fun guns.
The adjustment screw is linear. Jus turn it counterclockwise to lower the velocity. However, I have never seen a big difference in where the screw was set. Cock the gun only on the first cock position for the least amount of sound.
Keen:
Well Thank You Lionel.
My ham fists didn't appreciate that there were two cocking positions. The first position allows for significantly less muzzle noise than the second, and I can also see the pellet leave the barrel:o. I'll try the screw adjustments tomorrow in daylight.
On the higher setting the gun almost feels like a powder burner with a little barrel flip up as it's firing.
It's too late in the day to check FPS at each setting, maybe tomorrow.
If anyone out there has re-painted/refinished one of these guns I'd love to hear what materials have been used, and which ones are most durable and look most original.
Goose:
That's a nice one. I'd use bake-on enamel paint for it. The kind they use on engines.
You might want to set the oven outside if there's a woman in the house though. Don't ask... ...
Luck,
J~
