That’s getting interesting (in a good way)...after the first 3 shots, the next 40 are pretty good (with a couple off odd-ball low readings). Am wondering why you stopped...seems like there were more shots to be had.
Would not worry (for now) about the occasional odd-velocity shot….not too unusual for a break in period and some pellets just do that in any rifle. If a second known-to-be-good pellet also does that after a reasonable break in period, then I’d investigate. At least a few followers are interested in a 12ish foot pound/ 50 shot version of a Stormrider. The cramped plenum and small internal valve volume would actually be a plus for that. This is where I would miss an external striker spring adjustment. Making small changes by cutting...shimming...or replacing springs really isn’t fine-tuning (and it’s a PIA).
Had a stormrider spring sitting out so I installed. So these numbers are full spring shooting 10.3 hades 200b to off the reg. Reg still at 100bShot count: 27Low: 765Hi: 807Avg: 786Spread: 42STD Dev: 10.5789798798777786784782807789789803784779779800798784786782777779777765782793765777
Michael I cannot remember what you said but I think your Huma Reg is not vented outside? So those numbers are pretty good. If I could get 30 shots with a 8.4 at 12 ft lbs would be good enough. I think with the OEM hammer spring and a slightly reduced TP and a Reg I would be there. Still watching not ready to move yet, don't have a Reg.

I'm just looking specifically for a bare tube that does not have the hole for the low side manometer. I've already asked Wes if he got any of those in his last order, but no dice.
MichaelI think I saw that on huma website just leave the o rings off the back don't need to drill the tube. Do you think the Huma is better than the Altaros or do you have experience with the Altaros? Thanks

I had a altaros on my talon ss didn't really care for it, it filled the talon bottle s l o w.. so really no experience with them. Not really sure how the altaros seals against the gauge block.
It doesn't seal against the gauge block, it has an o-ring around the plenum section and relies on the double o-rings on the gauge block to make a seal. Since it doesn't need a vent this works well. I was able to make a seal against the valve with the Huma sleeve and no other modifications. I tried stacking some extra o-rings (the ones for the fill cap) on top of the valve and the plenum sleeve, but they didn't make a difference. For regulation purposes the "new" tubes with no "low side" hole for the manometer would be better since you could make whatever plenum size you want out of PCP pipe. For making peak power the Altaros seems to be the way to go, but the only other reg I tried was the Lane, which had a lower max pressure. I just like the Altaros better than the Lane all the way around, but the Lane may be superior for low power tuning. Next time I shoot the 'Rider, I'll use the chronograph and see how well it really works, but last time I it gave me +/- 15 FPS for 12 shots at 220b, but my memory may be fuzzy. Maybe on higher power guns with big plenums, like a Talon, it's not ideal.
Nice ! Perhaps a smidge less Hammer spring would settle down those 770 fps shots.
