2 More Benji 392's Make the Stable
«

Just couldn't pass on this one. Extremely clean & at a great price;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Slightly-Used-Vintage-Benjamin-Sheridan-392PA-22-cal-with-pellets-/322814576394?ul_noapp=true&nma=true&si=CGe8FkDH2LlxyDY8HcTYsnU8M3Y%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
The second one has much more significants. It's one I located a while back for a friend. An S392P. I couldn't believe it when Billy offered it back to me. These models are painfully difficult to locate. Especially the nickel version. I won't get into the details but suffice it to say Billy is an amazing individual!
I'll post pix of both once they've made it home.

My second new to me Benjamin S392P made it home today. He's absolutely gorgeous! Couldn't be happier! Thanks again Billy!!!
Going to give the forearm grip & stock a treatment of Howard Feed-N-Wax & shine up the nickel a bit. Should be able to post a couple of pix some time tomorrow. I also plan to run him through the chrony & see what he can do on the range. Will post results of that as well as soon as time allows.

Here's my 1991 S392P (Hoss) & his numbers. Ben's numbers are included as a comparison;
Pumps FPS FPE
4 506.6 8.15
5 529.6 8.91
6 574.5 10.48
7 604.8 11.62
8 626.0 12.45
Ben's numbers;
Pumps FPS FPE
4 509.3 8.23
5 557.5 9.87
6 596.8 11.31
7 626.4 12.46

Hoss is slightly under Ben in performance but right up there with respect to accuracy. The pic below show's Hoss's results on the range at 25 yds. All in all "HE WILL KEEL".

Don't mind me I enjoy having a conversation with myself.
Had the wrong serial number up top. The second number is a nine...8
9
6702674. So is it safe to assume this rifle's date of manufacture is; August of 96?
Yup i think your right Marty.
Ok thanks.

Thank you Scott! I really appreciate it. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but hopefully in the next day or two. It is absolutely flawless & sounds like it packs a pretty good punch. I'll run it through the chrony & try it out on the bench as well.

Marty,
Glad you are happy with the S392P. It really should have been yours. I never felt quite right about keeping it since you found it and I knew you wanted another one. Also I needed the money so I'm happy that it worked out that you could get it.
Good looking groups. I really need to get a scope on one of my benjamins.
oh and nice reference to Forged in Fire.
and yeah, that rust bucket on ebay is painful to look at. he originally wanted $250 for that pile. I wouldn't give $50 for it.

Ran the 392PA through it's paces & I was very pleased. Not quite up to par with the two P's with respect to FPS/FPE but he held his own. On a down note; the trigger pull was atrocious. Switched out the trigger spring & replaced it with a pen spring. Trigger improved but I think buffing out the sear will be a big plus. The best part about this gun is that he's absolutely flawless.
I again used CHP 14.3gr. Tried domed ultra mags but not even close in terms of accuracy. All my shots were taken at 25 yds. First pic are groups of 3. On the second go round I tested my nerves by taking shots at dots about the same size as the pellet. I actually found this to be an advantage. Don't ask me why but i think it forced me to be much more aware of every move i made.
Fellas, I know a lot of folks keep harping on mounting a scope on these pumpers but I think the proof is in the pudding. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. There is no way i could pull this off with open sights. Heck i could barely see the dots with the scope at full power. On the last series of shots my cross hairs literally covered the dot. Only then i knew i was on point. Oh ya, "It will keel"!
Time to get off this pc & see if my Yankees can crawl out of the hole they dug for themselves...
