Title: Hatsan 99.
Post by: Novagun on January 30, 2019, 03:06:10 PM
My Hatsan 99 failed to cock. It has the SAS system. As an aside, I doubt that it is very effective. For that system to work there has to be a curve worked into the cocking lever so the lever fits around the large plastic shock absorber when the barrel closes and the lever fits up against the compression tube.   I couldn't see anything wrong and nothing was broken. It turned out the cocking lever which is pressed out of steel about 10 mms square had bent and consequently reduced its length by about 5 mms. A little attention in padded vice jaws to open the bend in the cocking lever by 5 mms and all is well. It could only have bent from years of use and I wonder how long before it bends again. The rifle is not hard to cock because it has a reduced power spring.

I wonder what would happen if I took the hard plastic shock absorber out and substituted a softer one. I shouldn't have voiced that because I just might try. Not that I think it will make any difference.
