The cheap scope works at times. If you shoot enough rounds, you can dial it in until it gets knocked off again. I hope mine holds for awhile. Ok last picture of a target.

quite tempted at walmart earlier, 39.99 with the brown stock.. Whats the complication with hammer spring? I see to have read that the upgrade negates the flat spring mod to the trigger? In other words, doing the flat spring mod or the shim mod is great but adding hammer power for overpumping kinda kills the improvement to the trigger. From what i read if you flat top the piston with jb and aluminum tape , and overpump , the hammer wont dump the full charge with the stock hammer? tia

It's kind of a trade-off since they won't use a separate spring for the trigger.

Trying to find out what kind of scope mounts everybody is using for the 880. bought one three weeks ago. After trying a couple of pellets and adjusting the open sights. Shooting RWS superdomes at ten yards almost all in the same hole. Have a bunch of scope mounts that i have tried but nothing will work. Any ideas. Plan on keeping this one stock for now. Going to get another to play with. Those groups are with 10 pumps. Thanks everybody.

Why not ask that question on your own thread that's only about that? Not to be unfriendly, but you're more likely to get an answer...
I just bought a Wally World fixed power Bushnell that came with scope mounts for $28.99. Works fine.

Modding my trigger/hammer spring again. I found the 5lb pull spring. I had to make it myself. Only cost 99 cents. K&S music wire 4 pack .039. Wound it around 3/16" rod with 4 layers of aluminum tape to get the diameter right. Cut to size, then throw it in the barbecue for 30 minutes at 450 degrees. Hope it lasts!
Got the idea from here:

Did you measure and record the free-length?
It'd be handy to know if this works and doesn't compress.

I made it 1/16" longer then the original. The one I pulled out of there lost a 1/16." It was still working fine though. The original is around 7/8".

Here's the 3/16" round rod + 4 layers of aluminum tape I used. I stuck it in the vice, grabbed the biggest pliers I had and pulled!

What's the aluminum tape for?
And what did you use for spacing the windings?

I used the tape because I needed another 1/64". I tested it on drill bit shanks first to get a measurement. Then take a micrometer and measure the aluminum tape. I don't have a lathe to make the perfect shaft to wind on. I used a sharpe marker to mark the winding spacing. Just copy the original. It was really easy to do and it worked!

Hi guys,
I going to do a few more mods the Ted Williams 881 I recently bought. To get a handle on the guns parts I tore down a 880 parts gun I have. I can't figure out what part the flat spring is? I know it's suppose to be removed to improve the trigger and the way it's talked about it seems like it should be obvious? I guess it could be missing from the parts gun?
Do any of you have a picture of the flat spring before or after it has bee removed?

If you run a search on "flat spring" you should find some of Stonykill's posts. I'm sure there is a picture in there somewhere. The flat spring it located on top of the valve body just in front of the part of the trigger group that pushed down when the bolt is cocked back.

Thanks for the description.
I have gone through just about every thread on the 880 and have not seen a photo of the flat spring? I guess I'll figure it out when I get into this gun.

That looks like what I've seen described as a trigger spring, sear and a penny.
Ill try taking that part out of my parts gun to see what happens?

No I haven't but it could be missing from the parts gun I took down for practice? If that part is the flat spring it's easy to identifly and remove. I've seen that part described as the sear but that post or I could be wrong?

Nope, it's the flat spring. It actually keeps the gun from firing when the bolt is open. It's does help the trigger pull to remove it but keep in mind, then gun can be fired with the bolt open when you remove it.
