Have a Daisy 880 with the single screw side covers (complete with wobbly stock) that I've been using to reduce the squirrel population in my vicinity (2 down, several more to go). They seem determined to get into everything and make a mess. I broke the stock the other day chasing a squirrel through the brush, and (grimace)attempting to swipe it off a tree with the rifle. (Yeah, I know, dumb thing to do.)So I was planning to make a new stock (even though I could buy the 3 screw side covers and matching stock for about $25), when I ran across this forum while researching the Gamo Silent Cat.That's when I also found out that I could mod the 880 to get a bit better performance from it.What are your best/must do modifications? Thanks for your help.
Well I'm searching, but I don't see where one can get the parts from Daisy. I'm also looking for the parts diagram, but can only find a partial with a handwritten note reading "plastic receiver only" on it...
Which one is the China Stock? The one on eBay? The guy that does the assembly/dissassembly video - Joseph Lewis or JLMISSOURI?And just for a personal note, so I can find it again, here's the link to the trigger mod page:http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=93264.0;prev_next=prev#new
Question on the "tape mod" on the barrel. What does this do, exactly? If you only have a couple wraps, I'm not getting the purpose. Does the tape take up the space between the barrel and cover?
So basically the idea is to keep the barrel from.. what? Harmonic vibrations as the barrel heats up from firing? As I'm taking this thing apart, I notice that the end of the barrel fits rather snugly inside the sight. Isn't that enough?
