Replacing the Stock on a Spring Rifle

The stock on my 34 Compact has a stress fracture over the trigger guard. A new wood stock is in transit and I am wondering what tools will be needed when it arrives. This will be my 1st time opening a springer.

You don't have to "open" a springer to change out the stock. Once you remove the pivot screws, there will be only one or two screws you will have to remove to be able to lift the entire barrel and receiver mechanism out of the stock. You simply move it over to the new stock, replace the/those screw(s) and the whole process is done. You will have to move the trigger guard to the new stock as well, another two screws. One of those screws may well have helped hold the mechanism in the stock so it may have already been removed.

On my Diana 34 there are two #2 Phillips head screws, one on either side of the stock, near the front of the rifle. Mine have star washers under them. They must be removed. The forward screw on the trigger guard provides the rear attachment. It must be removed as well. At this point the action may be removed from the stock. It may be a tight fit but there should be nothing else holding it. The rear trigger guard screw will need removed so you can put the trigger guard on the new stock. If there is no hole in the new stock for this screw it should be predrilled to prevent splitting the new wood.
Note - many newer rifles have gone to Allen head screws to attach the stock. I do not know if Diana has followed suit. If so they will be metric. The front screws will require a 3mm wrench in all probability. The rear screw will be either 4mm or 5mm.
That's it. It's a pretty easy project. Good luck!

So its similar to a PB or PCP rifle and the action is self contained. I thought for sure I was going to need to reset or keep the spring under tension.
I will post photos once the new stock is on the 34. Thanks for the replies.
