German AirGun Gate / Re: Is there a competitor for the HW 50?« Last post by Bill_in_TR on Today at 06:03:33 PM »It was nice to see the Diana 280 brought up. I don't see it mentioned much at all. I absolutely love mine. For the shooting I do I couldn't ask for a better all around rifle. I wish it was still available. Hector, that rifle has never disappointed me. I believe it will hold its own against any HW50. Take care and thanks again for what you built. Bill 2
PCP/CO2/HPA Air Gun Gates "The Darkside" / Discovenge .25 build« Last post by SADave on Today at 06:02:54 PM »Order an Avenge .25 barrel with the plan to sleeve it for a QB build but it fit the Crosman Breech with the orings but was about 0.3mm too long on the breech end. Had a friend cut it down and it lined up with the valve TP. Polished the breech and found the longest Crosman bolt I had.
So far made two trips to shoot it. 1st trip got 1.25” groups with JsB kings at 50m but some lateral stringing to the right due to cross winds. 20shot string went from 760-796 fps so not bad in stock form. 2nd trip used a spare heavier hammer spring from MAP I had. Groups shrunk to 0.75” at 50m. Not sure if accuracy improved because of more speed or less wind. Was too cloudy for the chrono, so no numbers. Ordered a HST adjuster today and when I get it I’ll install the MAP valve as well. Any ideas on how to elongate the probe? It’s seating the pellets with part of the skirt still in the TP so I wonder if the air could be crushing the skirt. I was thinking to sleeve the tip with piece of delrin. 3

Gamo & Spanish AirGun Gate / Re: Why not more Cometa love« Last post by Mark 611 on Today at 05:32:42 PM »More COMETA LOVE! out of the 4 Cometa rifles I have, which are all good once you get them tuned up the way you like them, I'll have to say my 220 compacts are starting to be my favorite little guns, for the Cometa's, for short range shooting, I have not tried to shoot them much past 25yds, yet! Their accurate enough to shoot the little white heads off the stems of a dandelion @ 15 to 20yds, with either my .22cal or my .177cal rifles I have! as far as the Plastic trigger in the 400 series rifles, not a thing to worry about! IMO their a more solid trigger blade than the old Diana T05 triggers! and a lot more adjustable with a 1st and 2nd stage adjustment and with further modifications even better! but I will say I'm going to purchase a new 400 USC at some point and let Jon tune it and add the metal trigger blade just to see what he does! I don't need him to do that, but I want to see what I get from him? all in all these rifles are not Dianas they're not HW's but they are solid guns, I would rate these at Diana quality or just a tic under, not even close to HW, but their still nice rifles for the money! especially the 400 series! parts are available for them so you can tune them yourself if you want? 220's and 400's all take the same piston seal, the springs in the 220's are shorter than the 400's but they're basically the same spring! you can cut a 400 spring to length to work in your 220 gun! my 2ct

Machine Shop Talk & AG Parts Machining / Re: oring internal to barrel or on bolt?« Last post by Rick67 on Today at 05:08:36 PM »Got a project, replacing a barrel (PRod). Original barrel has an internal oring, and I’d rather not fool around cutting an internal groove in the new barrel. So my preference is for an oring on the bolt instead. Seems like many, maybe most, pcp guns use the internal oring. Any reason to go internal v bolt, other than ease of machining for me. That makes a lot of sense 👍 8

If the bolt travels through a magazine, it’s generally best to have the oring in barrel to save wear/tear on the oring. Single shot doesn’t matter so going with ease of manufacture is ok. Dave |
