Sheridan CO2 guns

I hope this is the right gate, if not, admins please move me lol :-[
I am wondering about the Sheridan co2 guns I keep seeing on Baker's website. Were they worth it back then? are they moddable for power now? I'm not really interested in getting one, just curious about the guns themselves.

The Model F rifle [ CO2 ] was a nice rifle , too. IF a person wanted to collect Sheridans, one of these could be added for a decent price. They are much cheaper than a Model A or B , for sure !!
There were some complaints, though. They needed quite a bit of energy to launch the pellets, so they used more CO2 than similar rifles, of that time. THUS , less shots per cartridge. Their FPS was lower than the maximum pumps [ 8 ] of the Streak models , but they were still very functional in hunting small game . I believe they are about as powerful as a Streak pumped up to 5 pumps, which is all I use for small game, unless it is at at a longer distance. ONE advantage when using one of these when hunting , was that you could get off another shot without the " clacking " of pumping it up & scaring the game .
I am not sure of any modding that can be done, but it seems like air-gunners always come up with mods for all their guns.
One note :
If you are interested in buying one, there is no way to check the condition of a used one, unless you have a CO2 cartridge with you. I would suggest buying one from someone reputable.

I've thought about getting one of these a couple times. I always hesitate just because of the high temp requirement of C02 and the fact that its less than 70 degrees for half the year here, so it would be a summer only gun.
The two most common modifications are
setting them up for bulk C02 which gives you more shots and apparently eliminates the one seal that goes out most frequently.
and modifying/changing something about the valve which makes it more efficient and more powerful. I don't know the specifics, but apparently the model F used the same valve as the model C, which is was designed for air, so it is not the best for C02.
The nice thing about the model F is that you can put a scope on it without effecting how you have to hold it to pump it up - because you don't have to pump it up.

That is a PLUS !!

There is probably several posts on the Sheridan F's in the Vintage gate. I made a post in this thread.
