Damon,Which gun are you referring to? The Hatsan? What brand of replacement strut are you getting?
I would buy a Crosman Nitro piston gun over and over again, I had several of them and never had a problem, all shot better then highly acclaimed German guns, I still have a Titan .17 bought used for 105 bucks shipped with a gold trigger installed, best buy ever !! Still works like a charm after 3 or 4 years and killed so many critters I couldn't put a number on them.

Did they send you a refurb? If you decide to keep it, you could always strip the stock, sand it, and apply truoil. I did that to my .30 cal 135 and it turned out great.
I think the problem is with the lower quality gas pistons rather than the gas piston itself. I have a Beeman RX-1 w/ the Theoben gas piston that I purchased brand new in 1998. I released some of the pistons pressure ( to lower the cocking effort) and it's never leaked a cc of air. I would be that most of the current Crosman rams come from China. Since their quality can be hit or miss, it's no wonder they leak out. Nathan
