I have a Peak .177 B3-1 AK and a Bam .22 B3-1 AK. I had a .177 B5-1 AK but sold it to a bud. Seemed redundant to have three so I kept the older ones. I have AK47 recoil pads on the back of both. The older Peak has the plastic insert in the narrower part of the folding stock. The Bam either never had one or a previous owner removed it.You might find some nylon type wrap or I've seen some with hard foam wrapped around the top part of the stock. Or carve something out of ply wood. Two pieces with some bolts to pull them together from either side. Both of them have anti bear traps. When you cock them you can't return the lever forward until you pull the lever to the rear again. Did you or previous owners remove something.I also have a AK47 pistol grip and a AK/SKS flash supressor on the Bam and AK slings on both.
Marshall, I'd love to see pics. of that repeater, don't know that model, and the scope mount you made.
I really like this B3-Ak specially the ones imported by Navy Arms in the 80’s. The first ones imported did use surplus type 81 folding stocks, grips, and reciever flats. This are very popular as chinese folding stock donors by AK afficionados. I bought one from an Ak forum that the folding stock has been removed. I am in the process of adding a wooden AK stock on it. A few of my 80s B3-AKs had been lube tuned by Mike Mileck. Chinese AK collectors seems to be willing to pay upwards of $300 for the early ones to harvest the stock.
If it has Mrod on the side it's a B5-1 AK.
