Jsar balance valve for bulldog

Anyone here use the jsar balance valve in their bulldog? Has it been a durable piece or has it been finicky? On paper it seems itd calm the shot cycle and produce good power instead of using a heavy hammer spring and still not making the power numbers the valve does.

Poppet is soft delrin and broke after less than 100 rounds. I converted mine to a type 2 Balanced Valve and made a PEEK poppet. No issues now.

I've had nothing but issues with the jsar valve in the bulldog. Ended up sending it back for repair. Took almost 7 months to get back and still didn't work once I got it back.
That being said, it did originally work as intended for several hundred shots before it began acting up.
I would look elsewhere.

Where else to look? I might want to put something in my Bulldog too. Yes I know, do a search, being lazy and would like to know what actually stands the test of time.

That's to bad that it isnt solid yet. I really like shooting the bulldog so I want something better then a harsh spring and it needs to be a lifetime mod. Veradium is about the only option I havent looked deeply into.

I don't see any parts on the Veradium site.
It looks like stiff spring, drilled transfer port, bigger and higher pressure tube. Plus reaming out the chamber for a little more gentle ramp into the rifling or a little more freebore depending on how you do it. I'm thinking the ramp on the rifling might be a big issue, I'm getting 180fpe with 125 grain rounds that load nice and easy. I'm also getting 180fpe with 150 grain rounds that need a good solid push to seal up the chamber. When I pushed a chambered round back out, half of the 150 bullet was engraved and basically none of the 125 bullet was engraved. Needs a little jump to get going. I asked Pitbull and was told they run a reamer into the barrel to open up this area a little. If I ever get myself motivated again, I'll be testing this
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=193067.0
It's hard to do without proper tools. A proper hand reamer with pilots would work better, a lathe would be even better than that.
I'm still thinking that a little over 200fpe with the 150 grain, regulated and extended air tube with higher pressure fill might be the best way to go. Might be able to get most of 10 shots on the regulator (2700psi regulator where the BD really makes the most power in the curve). You could probably go crazy like an AEA and pump out 3 shots at nearly 400fpe if you wanted to, but I don't see much point there. If I were going to do that, I'd buy a different platform and probably in 45 or 50. Maybe if we are lucky the Gunnar 45 will bring us what we want without any messing around (skeptical). I'm still keeping an eye on the Umarex Hammer. If you only want 3 shots, and want big power, you'll easily spend that much on Bulldog mods to only get halfway there. Same could be said for AEA Zeus, easy to dump $1000 into a Bulldog to make it much more powerful, but Hammer is $850 every day and Zeus 72 is $1200. I'm sure there are some AirForce in this price range that also smoke the BD on power.

Mike,
I had nothing but trouble with my JSAR Balanced valve and also their titanium tube, they leaked, several trips back to JSAR just made it worse. It took a very reliable airgun and turned it into a unreliable one. Great concept with poor execution.
Mine is mow shortened to the end of the stock, for airbolts, ported to .30, the valve spring removed and has the Pitbull power spring and steel lever, it sits for months and never leaks. I no longer vent into the shroud so it is very loud and a 5 shooter these days.
I sold the JSAR items at full disclosure and bought the Pitbull spring and lever. Then did their oring mod to the magazine, first shot with NOE 150 hp is almost 900 fps.
Great airguns.
Good luck,

I need to make the o ring mod to my magazines too, but this is low on my list of requirements right now. I have 4 mags I need to cut for this mod.
