Perhaps I wrote it wrong but what I was trying to ask to all of you more experienced than myself is that is the wood quality better? worse? Are we seeing higher grade cuts of raw lumber? Less knots, flaws etc in modern vs vintage stocks. Perhaps their stocks have always been of high quality and there is no issue. Or perhaps they've gotten better or worse over time with the selection of the stock material or source that they're acquired from.

I haven't seen a change of wood quality but most of the guns I own and worked on for others are newer models. The oldest ones I've worked on were early 90s and I haven't seen any changes in quality of the wood itself in that time frame. There's far more experienced people that have much older Weihrauchs and may have something to say. Personally I like the quality and cut of the current Weihrauch wood stocks.
+2 on the Beeman Goudy stocks.
Well speaking of Weihrauh quality. I just purchased a HW35 (not the E) from Krale. Krale as always is fantastic but I noticed this strange incised line on both the front portion and rear portion of the receiver. Its deep enough that a finger nail can grab on it. My HW95 and 97 do not have these marks. I emailed Krale about it to ask if this was normal and was told it was. It's very minor but seems a something that shouldn't really be happening in the manufacturing process.

It's how the gun is made and how it's assembled. There's absolutely nothing abnormal about that. Thirty year old 35s and 80s have that. Don't fret.

Good to know it is just the norm for these. I wasn't finding much when trying to search on the issue.

Still talking German airguns, my Diana's and Walther don't have this.
just need to figure out if I need to chop more off the spring, cut 1 coil off the vortek and it only dropped the speed by 17 fps.
