My 2011 vintage Gamo was getting long in the tooth and a bit weak in the spring department, kinda like me with not a lot of spring!! I had relaced the seal with one of Jim Maccarri's Gamo "problem solver" sets and replaced the trigger with a GRT-4g. Deburred, polished and set it up with moly, it shot great accuracy wise but power seemed to be dropping, maybe being 11 years along and several thousand pellets. So back to ARH and ordered a "Hornet" spring. Took the rifle apart, degreased, tried the spring and the sear wouldn't engage the piston,
Put each spring in my setting fixture and found the Hornet spring was 3/8 of an inch longer when coil bound. Trimmed 3 coils, heated and flattened, then ground and polished it and reinstalled, SUCCESS. pulled it back apart and fitted a piece of shrink tube on the rear guide to tighten up on the spring id. Another bout of moly lube and reassembly, AMAZING how that stuff can migrate around the shop and coat everything it sees!!
All back togther and started testing at 10 yards in the shop, WOW ! settled in with in 5-10 shots and chewed the 1/4 " circle out of the targets with both CPHP and H&N FTT.
This was my first springer given to me by and old friend when he moved from the area and it kept the gophers under control in our orchard very well, But now, when they start poking their little snouts out they will really be in trouble,, i hope
